Space Jam: A New Legacy is a hit!
The film debuted at No. 1 at the box office over the weekend, pulling in $31.7 million from 3,956 theaters, via THR.
That’s even better than projected: the Space Jam sequel was estimated to open in the $20 million range.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is having a successful weekend at the box office!
The long-awaited sequel to the 1996 movie Space Jam was number one on Friday (July 16) with a $13.1 million opening day, topping Black Widow‘s $8 million on its second Friday.
Space Jam: A New Legacy, starring LeBron James, is also available to stream for free with a subscription to HBO Max.

The second Space Jam movie just came out in theaters today (July 16) and there’s already talk about a third movie being made!
The first film was released 25 years ago, so hopefully a third movie won’t take another 25 years to get made.

Zendaya is opening up about her thoughts regarding the controversy over the resign of Lola Bunny for the upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy.
If you don’t know, many fans spoke out about how Lola Bunny looks in the new movie, as she looked a lot different in the 1996 movie.
Director Malcolm D. Lee told the magazine that he “had no idea that people would be that up in arms about a bunny not having boobs.”
“Listen, I understand people don’t want things to change, but I think we needed some evolution with her, not by objectifying her but by making her strong and still feminine. And, yes, we had all these other women who were like, ‘Oh, you can’t be strong and have big boobs?!’ Sure you can, but we’re talking about a cartoon bunny not women!”

LeBron James made it a family affair at the premiere of his movie Space Jam: Legacy!
The 36-year-old basketball player, who stars in the movie, was joined at the event by his wife Savannah and their six-year-old daughter Zhuri on Monday (July 12) at Regal LA Live in downtown Los Angeles.
Cast members in attendance at the premiere included Don Cheadle, Cedric Joe, Sonequa Martin-Green, Ceyair J Wright, and Harper Leigh Alexander.
Voice actors who attended the premiere included Zendaya, Eric Bauza, Bob Bergen, and Jeff Bergman.
John Legend, who provided some music for the soundtrack, was also there, as was Don‘s wife Brigid Coulter.
The movie will be released both in theaters and on HBO Max this Friday.
FYI: Sonequa is wearing a St. John dress. Zendaya is wearing a Moschino outfit, Christian Louboutin pumps, and Bulgari jewelry. Cedric is wearing a DSquared2 gold tuxedo.

Zendaya is all smiles while walking the red carpet for the premiere of her movie Space Jam: Legacy at Regal LA Live on Monday (July 12) in downtown Los Angeles.
The 24-year-old actress voices the role of Lola Bunny in the new Warner Bros. film, which will be released both in theaters and on HBO Max this Friday.
Zendaya opened up to EW about her relationship with the original Space Jam movie, which came out when she was just six-months-old.
“I grew up with it, because I come from a basketball family. My mom is 6-foot-4, she was a basketball player in college, and my father also played basketball and was a basketball coach and wanted me to be a basketball player. So I highly identify with LeBron’s son in this film, because I too had this issue of, ‘Well, I don’t want to do that. I kind of have a different idea of what I want to do.’ But I also relate to the fact of having amazing support from my parents, being like, ‘We support you in your dreams and what you want to do,’” she said.
Zendaya was recently spotted kissing her on-again boyfriend, who happens to be one of her former co-stars!

The new trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy is here!
In the new clip, LeBron James is transported to an alternate Looney Tunes Universe through a computer program run by an evil algorithm played by Don Cheadle.
LeBron then has to team up with the Tunes to take on the all-star Goon Squad in order to save his family.
The new trailer features some brief snippets of two songs from the film’s soundtrack, Lil Uzi Vert’s “Pump Up the Jam” and Cordae and Duckwrth’s “Settle the Score.”
Space Jam: A New Legacy is set to release in theaters and on HBO Max on July 16.
