11 of Broadway's Elphabas Sang 'Defying Gravity' Together & The Ending Is Truly Epic (Video)

Shoshana Bean did something pretty epic for the virtual concert fundraiser she organized to support the high school she attended!

The Broadway star and singer was the second actress to play Elphaba in the musical Wicked and she gathered 10 other actresses who played the role to sing the act one finale number “Defying Gravity” with her.

Shoshana and the ten other women – Idina Menzel, Stephanie J. Block, Eden Espinosa, Jessica Vosk, Lindsay Mendez, Alexia Khadime, Julia Murney, Rachel Tucker, Kerry Ellis, and Lindsay Pearce – each sang a snippet from the song and then they all performed the final “ahhh” one after another.

The concert also featured performances from Cynthia Erivo, Jeremy Jordan, and student performers from across the Beaverton School District.

Broadway Star Stephanie J. Block Has Been Sending Money to Arts Workers Affected by Coronavirus Closures

Tony Award-winning actress Stephanie J. Block is doing her part to help people who work in the theater/arts industry and are out of work because of closures due to coronavirus.

The Broadway star found a thread on Twitter in which people are sharing their Venmo names and Stephanie has been sending money to a lot of them.

“Hey theater folks: if you’re hourly, weekly, etc, and have had work cancelled and are *not getting paid*, respond to this thread with your Venmo account, please,” Twitter user Jenna Clark Embrey wrote on Thursday after Broadway was shut down.

Stephanie replied to tweets with a green check mark whenever she sent money to someone.

Sarah Silverman's New Musical Casts Tony Winners Stephanie J. Block & Linda Lavin!

Sarah Silverman has written a musical based on her memoir The Bedwetter and the cast has been set for the upcoming off-Broadway premiere!

Tony winners Stephanie J. Block and Linda Lavin will be starring in the musical alongside young actresses Sami Bray and Zoe Glick, who will share the role of 10-year-old Sarah.

Stephanie will play Sarah’s mother Beth Ann and Linda will be playing Nana.

The musical will begin performances on April 25 at the Atlantic Theater Company’s Linda Gross Theater and opening night is set for May 20. The limited engagement will conclude on June 14, according to Deadline.

Sarah co-wrote the book with Joshua Harmon and she co-wrote the score with Adam Schlesinger. Anne Kauffman will direct the musical.

Cher Shares Video of Stephanie J. Block's Standing Ovation at First Performance After Tony Award Win!

Cher has been tweeting non-stop since the Tony Awards to congratulate Stephanie J. Block, the actress who just won a Tony for playing her in The Cher Show.

Now, the legendary entertainer has shared a video of the standing ovation that Stephanie received when she made her entrance in the show on Tuesday (June 11), the first show since the Tonys.

“This is Beginning of Excitement At @TheCherShow,” Cher captioned the video. The crowd can be seen erupting into applause for Stephanie as she rises out of the floor while singing “If I Could Turn Back Time.”

The musical won two Tonys over the weekend. The other was for Best Costume Design of a Musical for the legendary Bob Mackie.

The Broadway star is currently playing the iconic superstar in The Cher Show and she won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her work.

Stephanie was joined by co-stars Micaela Diamond and Teal Wicks, who play the younger version of the singer, for a performance of “Believe.”

Bob also won the award for Best Costume Design of a Musical.

Stephanie J. Block and Santino Fontana proudly hold their awards while appearing on stage at the 2019 Tony Awards on Sunday (June 9) at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Stephanie won Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her work in The Cher Show while Santino picked up Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for his work in Tootsie.

This is the first Tony win for both stars, who are both veterans of the Broadway stage.
