Steve Carell Is Santa Claus in Xfinity Short Film - Watch! (Video)

Steve Carell is Santa Claus!

The 58-year-old The Office alum plays the iconic role in The Greatest Gift, an ad for Xfinity TV and broadband out on Thursday (November 26).

A two-minute version of the short film aired on NBC’s broadcast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, followed by a three-and-a-half-minute version going online right after.

“After the year we’ve had, the usual gifts just aren’t going to cut it,” Santa informs a group of elves via a videoconference.

With time running out before Christmas Eve, the elves brainstorm a solution before deciding to give the spirit of the holidays itself, expressed through things like family snowball fights and the smell of grandma’s cooking instead of physical gifts.

The spot is soundtracked by Supertramp’s 1974 song “Dreamer,” reinterpreted by the band’s lead singer, Roger Hodgson.

“The holidays are really about moments of togetherness with the people you love, and serve as a reminder for what’s most important, especially given the hardships of this past year. I hope that this sweet little story will bring a bit of cheer,” Steve said of the ad.

Steve Carell Officially Returning For 'The Morning Show' Season 2, Production To Begin This Month

Steve Carell will be back as on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show.

The 58-year-old actor, who plays Mitch Kessler in the series, will return alongside Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon for the official second season.

Deadline reports that the series is set to restart filming on the show on Monday, October 19.

Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Bel Powley, Karen Pittman and Desean Terry will also return for the show.

Season 2 of The Morning Show is expected to reflect the pandemic, and production was shut down just as the pandemic hit earlier this year.

Mark opened up about the show back in August about the storyline.

“I know that they’re also rewriting, which is crazy because that’s what happened in the first season,” he shared. “They had a whole set of scripts [then] and they rewrote everything to include the #MeToo movement, and now we’ve got other, larger, global phenomenon to deal with. I don’t know what they’re doing but I know they’re rewriting.”

Just recently, one of the stars won an Emmy for their role. See who it was here!

“It was almost more than I bargained for,” he said.

“I had [goodbye] scenes with everyone in the cast and it was emotional torture. It was like just fraught with emotion…and joy and sadness and nostalgia. But it was also really beautiful. I’d like treasure just doing that episode because it did allow me to kind of have a finality with everybody,” he continued.

His Office co-star Brian Baumgartner revealed that he pitched this showmance to writers, but it never happened…
