The 71-year-old actor was trying to convey that he was captured by the Star Wars actress’ beauty at a young age and later learned of her witty personality after he got to know her.

Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson arrive in style at the 2016 Museum of Modern Art Film Benefit on Tuesday night (November 15) at the MoMA in New York City.
The 60-year-old actor was honored at the event for his longstanding career in the film industry and was joined by Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw, Alexa Chung, Steve Martin, Rachel Roy, Aaron Eckhart, and Stephen Colbert and wife Evelyn.
When he took the stage to receive his honor, Tom spoke about the election and reassured guests that America will continue to strive.
“We are going to be all right…we will move forward, because if we do not move forward, what is to be said about us?” Tom said in his speech.
