SZA recently opened up about her friendship with the “Good As Hell” singer in an interview with Popsugar and revealed that she had gotten a sneak peek of Lizzo‘s new music.

“I never feel like I have to be anybody else around her, ever,” SZA said. “I can go over [to her place] and sit in my underwear and like, randomly talk about whatever… she makes me feel safe.”

SZA added, “I love that we’re completely different people, and we vibe and have fun in ways that are completely different.”

The pair have spent a lot of time together in quarantine, hosting joint meditations on Instagram and posing in matching red lingerie sets for Valentine’s Day.

She explained that while she’d rather cheer Lizzo on from the sidelines, “I don’t feel like less than or super small or guilty because I’m not being a little bit louder. She just makes me feel really good to be who I am.”

SZA also teased that’s she’s been listening to her friend’s unreleased music.

“I love Lizzo‘s unreleased music,” she shared. “I literally cried and screamed listening to her songs. It makes me feel so good. She’s just a f-cking amazing person and I hope that she takes over the actual universe because she deserves to.”

SZA Says She's Not Mad At All About Not Winning Best New Artist at the Grammys in 2018

SZA is opening up about being snubbed by the Recording Academy during the 2018 Grammy Awards, where she was up for Best New Artist.

The 30-year-old rapper chatted with Cosmopolitan in their February 2020 issue about how she feels about it.

“I’m just a girl from the ’burbs. I never had dreams of being nominated for a Grammy,” she shared. “I thought I was going to be a gymnast and a f***ing business accountant somewhere. Or working at Nike corporate or some s*** in Portland. Who knows, but something that involved a power suit.”

SZA says she’s not actually mad about losing the award, which ultimately went to Dua Lipa.

“…It’s not a heavy burden,” she says. “Once you’ve been nominated and lost, you’re very much free because you’re not concerned. I passed that threshold years ago—it’s an old energy to me. Why would I be mad?”
