The final season of Empire is being cut short due to the health crisis and now Taraji P. Henson is revealing just how close they were to finishing the last couple episodes.

There were supposed to be 20 episodes in the final season, but now the series finale will be episode 18.

“We were almost finished,” Taraji told Variety on March 31, right before it was announced that the season would be cut short. “We were at the finish line.”

“We had 20 episodes to shoot,” she added. “We were in the middle of episode 19 and then this happened. So, we just have about a week and a half to go, about 10 more days and we’ll be finished.”

The cast will no longer be going back to set to finish the final episodes. Scenes that were filmed for episode 19 will be edited into episode 18, which airs on April 21.

Taraji P. Henson is slimming down in quarantine.

The Coffee & Kareem actress revealed that she lost some weight amid the pandemic in an interview with Access Hollywood.

Taraji opened up in an interview with Zuri Hall about how she’s coping with social distancing, including having virtual cocktails with her friends and doing her own braids.

She also revealed she’s lost five pounds already – and she can now last up to an hour in an infared sauna!

Plus, Taraji revealed that she’s postponed her nuptials with fiance Kelvin Hayden while taking her older family members into consideration amid the crisis.

Ed Helms and Taraji P. Henson join forces in the trailer for their new Netflix film Coffee & Kareem!

The 46-year-old Hangover actor and the 49-year-old Empire actress star in the upcoming action-comedy alongside Terrence Little Gardenhigh.

Here’s the synopsis: “While police officer James Coffee (Ed Helms) enjoys his new relationship with Vanessa Manning (Taraji P. Henson), her beloved 12-year-old son Kareem (Gardenhigh) plots their break-up.”

It continues, “Attempting to scare away his mom’s boyfriend for good, Kareem tries to hire criminal fugitives to take him out but accidentally exposes a secret network of criminal activity, making his family its latest target. To protect Vanessa, Kareem teams up with Coffee – the partner he never wanted – for a dangerous chase across Detroit.”

From director Michael Dowse, Coffee & Kareem is about “forging unexpected bonds, one four-letter insult at a time.”

It also stars Betty Gilpin, RonReaco Lee, Andrew Bachelor, and David Alan Grier.

Coffee & Kareem hits the streaming service on April 3. Watch the trailer now!

Speaking to People at the event, Taraji opened up about how planning her wedding to Kelvin Hayden is a bit overwhelming.

“It’s overwhelming, because in my work life, I have dates and emails and now in my personal life it’s like, ‘Ah!’” she shared.

Taraji added, “I don’t think people understand what goes into wedding planning, trying to match everything up is so crazy.”

The Empire actress and her fiance Kelvin Hayden enjoyed a romantic vacation for two at Nobu Hotel Los Cabos in Mexico.

The happy couple were welcomed with a Nobu signature cocktail and specially prepared dessert to celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend, and then took a boat tour of the famous Cabo San Lucas Arch where they dined on lobster, oysters and chocolate covered strawberries as they toasted to their upcoming wedding.

They then ate a candlelit dinner at Nobu Restaurant, where Taraji took to her Instagram to show off her heart shaped strawberry she fed to Kelvin.

The next day, they enjoyed breakfast from Malibu Farm before going to the infinity pool, where they hung out with friends and took photos with fans – and reportedly even bought a round of cocktails for the whole pool!

They also enjoyed the Esencia Spa for the outdoor hydrotherapy garden, experiential shower, cabana jacuzzi and hydrotherapy pool before getting a couple’s massage and facials. They had dinner once again at Nobu Restaurant, where they enjoyed a giant display of sushi in the shape of a heart and “eternal flame” cocktails. It sounds like they had a truly incredible time!

The couple actually revealed that they pushed back their wedding date back in January – find out the reason!

Taraji P. Henson and Kelvin Hayden have pushed back their wedding date.

The 49-year-old actress revealed in a new interview that the original date was April 4, but pushed it back just in case it rained.

“I mentioned one date… it was 4/4/20 and we were really going to do it 4/4/20, but my wedding planner was like, ‘Okay, in case it rains, we’ll have umbrellas’…and I was like, ‘You know what, never mind about April, let’s move it later.’,” Taraji said.

She did confirm the nuptials are still on, but wasn’t sharing the exact date.

“I am excited. I usually don’t get excited until it’s closer to me. It still seems so far off.”
