Sterling K. Brown‘s new movie is getting a ton of awards season buzz!

Waves was a total knockout when it first premiered during the 2019 Telluride Film Festival earlier this summer – and now we finally get to see the first trailer.

Written and directed by Trey Edward Shults, the film follows the epic journey of a suburban African-American family – led by a well-intentioned, but domineering father – as they navigate love, forgiveness, and coming together in the aftermath of a loss.

Sterling stars in the film alongside Lucas Hedges, Taylor Russell, Kelvin Harris Jr, and Renee Elise Goldsberry.

Lucas Hedges sits in the front row at the Gucci Cruise 2020 fashion show alongside girlfriend Taylor Russell on Tuesday (May 28) at Musei Capitolini in Rome, Italy.

The 22-year-old actor is already an Oscar-nominated star, best known for his work in Manchester by the Sea, Boy Erased, and Lady Bird.

Lucas stars alongside Taylor in the upcoming movie Waves and they debuted their relationship back in December while kissing at a New York Knicks basketball game.

Waves, a romantic musical from It Comes at Night director Trey Edward Shults, is expected to be released this year.

The 22-year-old Oscar-nominated actor was spotted kissing Taylor Russell while attending the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns basketball game on Monday (December 17) at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Lucas and Taylor might just have been appeasing the kiss cam though. The two actors are starring in the upcoming movie Waves and they recently wrapped production.

Lucas, whose new movies Boy Erased and Ben is Back are currently in theaters, is starring on Broadway in The Waverly Gallery right now. He recently opened up about his sexuality and said that he is “not totally straight, but also not gay and not necessarily bisexual.”

Taylor can be seen in Netflix’s remake of Lost in Space.

The actors were all in attendance at the premiere of Netflix’s Lost In Space at The Cinerama Dome on Monday (April 9) in Los Angeles.

Co-stars Mina Sundwall, Molly Parker, Parker Posey, Toby Stephens, Kiki Sukezane, Taylor Russell, Maxwell Jenkins and Ignacio Serricchio all hit the red carpet at the event.

Selma Blair, Mark Hamill, Bill Mumy, Marta Kristen and Kendra Wilkinson were also in attendance at the premiere.

Here’s a plot summary of the upcoming series: after crash-landing on an alien planet, the Robinson family fight against all odds to survive and escape, but they’re surrounded by hidden dangers.

Lost In Space premieres on Friday (April 13).
