Talent runs in the family!

Scott Fisher was on hand to accept the Academy Award for Visual Effects for his work on Tenet at the 2021 Academy Awards on Sunday (April 25) at Union Station in Los Angeles.

During his acceptance speech, he revealed something pretty cool for those who aren’t familiar with his family’s work!

“We did so many things, and there’s so many departments we have to thank, not just in our own,” he said during the speech.

“It all goes back to our director, Christopher Nolan. He leads us all and gives us amazing opportunities to do amazing things. And I’d like to thank my family, my wife, my amazing crew, and my father who won the same award.”

His father is Thomas L. Fisher and he won for Best Visual Effects for Titanic in 1998!

A recent report is explaining why the movie Tenet was only able to garner two Oscar nominations this year and it all boils down to director Christopher Nolan.

The big-budget movie was the first blockbuster film to be released in theaters during the COVID-19 pandemic and it unfortunately didn’t get audiences back into the seats.

Nolan insisted that the film be released in theaters instead of getting a VOD release like many of the other movies throughout the past year. He also criticized his home studio Warner Bros. when they later decided to put the entire 2021 slate on HBO Max the same day the films hit theaters.

The Christopher Nolan movie Tenet, which was released in theaters last summer during the pandemic, is going to hit the streaming service very soon.

HBO Max just announced that Tenet will be available to watch beginning on May 1.

Tenet, which stars John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, was originally delayed by several months and was eventually released in theaters in August 2020. Most theaters around the country were still closed and the movie only made $58 million in the U.S. New York City movie theaters just opened this month for the first time in nearly a year and Tenet is playing in some of them.

The movie was available for home viewing back in December and you can currently rent it on demand.

The movie Tenet, which was expected to be one of summer 2020′s biggest blockbusters, is finally available to watch at home following a disappointing theatrical run.

Warner Bros. released the movie in theaters in September when it seemed like COVID-19 cases were finally going down in the U.S., but the cases later started to surge again and it seems audiences were not ready to go back to the movies.

Tenet grossed just $57.8 million domestically, though its worldwide total was $361.4 million.

You can now purchase a digital copy of the movie for $19.99 on iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, or wherever else movies are sold. Rentals of the movie will not be available until January 5.

The Blu-ray version of the movie, which also comes with a DVD copy and a digital code, is available on Amazon for $24.96.

Tenet will finally be available for people to watch at home, just in time for the holidays!

The Christopher Nolan movie debuted in theaters on September 4 after a couple months of delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately because of the pandemic and all the movie theater shutdowns, the film did not reach a wide audience and had a disappointing run. The film ultimately grossed $53.8 million domestically and $347 million worldwide.

Nearly every other major movie scheduled to hit theaters in 2020 has been pushed back after seeing what happened with Tenet.

Everyone who didn’t get a chance to watch the movie in theaters will be able to watch it at home starting on December 15. The movie will be released on 4K, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on that day.

The Tenet 4K UHD combo pack and Blu-ray will include the hourlong featurette “Looking at the World in a New Way: The Making of Tenet,” according to Deadline.

The numbers are still coming in for Tenet.

The Christopher Nolan film brought in $6.7 million domestically over the weekend for a total of $29.5 million thus far in its U.S. run, THR reported Sunday (September 13).

The small box office success is largely due to movie theaters remaining closed in major markets like Los Angeles and New York City.

However, it is doing well internationally, with an estimated global gross of $207 million overall.

“In an unprecedented move, Warner Bros. has been shielding domestic grosses from public view by blocking anyone from seeing Tenet numbers on Comscore, a receptacle for real-time grosses provided by cinemas. Sources say the studio wants to control the narrative, versus having rival studios weigh in. The only number previously given out by Warners was the $20.2 million earned by Tenet through Sept. 7 after opening Sept. 3 where it could in the U.S. and the weekend before in Canada,” THR also reported.

More than 25% of the entire box office marketplace remains closed, but theaters in New Jersey and Orange County began to reopen, which proved to be a “major boost.”

Here’s why the movie would have never been released to PVOD.

Tenet is doing relatively big numbers amid the pandemic at the box office.

The Christopher Nolan movie brought in $20.2 million over Labor Day weekend, bringing its total earnings towards nearly $150 million globally, via Variety on Sunday (September 6).

The movie debuted in the United States over the holiday weekend in about 2,800 cinemas across the country, a “smaller footprint than normal for a wide release,” Variety notes.

“But Warner Bros., the studio behind the twisty thriller, is banking on it being enough to justify unspooling the $200 million-budgeted film after months of delays. Currently, about 70% of multiplexes in the U.S. have reopened, though major territories like New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco are still off limits.”

The movie was also generally seen as a barometer for the health of the movie theater industry amid the global health crisis.

“Hollywood has been looking to Tenet as an indicator of the viability of the movie theater business during a global health crisis. Many exhibitors reopened their cinemas in time to screen Tenet, and they are banking on pent-up demand to see a movie on the big screen for the first time since the pandemic hit in March,” the outlet reports.
