Trevor Noah Is Paying Salaries of 25 Furloughed 'Daily Show' Staff Members Amid Pandemic

Trevor Noah is helping out his own team in a big way.

The 36-year-old Daily Show host is pitching in by personally paying the salaries of 25 furloughed staff members amid the global health crisis, Variety confirmed on Thursday (April 30).

He reportedly informed crew members that he will continue to pay their salaries until production “begins to ramp back up in the television industry.”

“These are the people who have been on the show with Trevor from day one and help him put on the show. Trevor is personally covering their salaries until the production business opens again. He respects his crew tremendously and feels it’s only right that they get thru this together,” a source told the publication.

He has been hosting a remote version of The Daily Show, called The Daily Social Distancing Show With Trevor Noah, from his home amid the pandemic.

Trevor Noah Mocks Trump for the Outtakes from His Coronavirus Address - Watch the Bloopers!

Before and after Donald Trump gave his address to the country about the Coronavirus, the C-SPAN cameras were rolling and showed viewers what the president was doing when he thought the cameras were off.

Trump was seen asking someone else to give the address, taking a sip of soda, moving a book around the table, dropping the F-bomb, and realizing he had pen ink on his shirt… all before the address began!

Now, Trevor Noah is mocking the bloopers in a segment on The Daily Show.

“Today, we got to see the real Trump when he’s not acting presidential. And honestly, this was pure comedy gold,” Trevor said while introducing the clip.

“Can I just say, I can safely say this is the first time in my life that I have seen the deleted scenes of a presidential address. Like, America’s downfall might be scary but the bloopers were hilarious,” Trevor said after playing the clip. “It was really weird hearing a president in the oval office say, ‘Oh f–k.’ Although I guess we know what it sounds like whenever he gets a call from Eric.”

During the event, Matt opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about changing the direction of his career and said he had to “un-brand” himself from just starring in romantic comedies.

“I took off, and had an un-branding phase. Not a re-branding phrase, an un-branding phase,” Matt recalled after the birth of his son Levi in 2008. “I said, ‘I’m out.’”

“That anonymity, that being away, that not being the shirtless guy on the beach in a rom-com, by un-branding, then all of a sudden things came to me that I had been wanting to do,” Matt added. “Dramatic roles that I had been pursuing were coming my way.”

Other stars in attendance included Trevor Noah, journalist Ronan Farrow, activist Gloria Steinem, Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, and tennis icon Billie Jean King.

If you missed it, Matt is trying to set up his mom with this actor’s dad!

Trevor Noah Thinks Trump Could Make Comedians' Jobs a Little Harder: 'I'm Not Doing Much'

Trevor Noah makes an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing Monday (February 24), and opens up about having to cover President Trump on The Daily Show.

The 36-year-old comedian gets asked by Ellen if he thinks Trump being President is, ‘a good thing for comedy,’ which he disagreed with, revealing he thinks Trump could make comedians’ jobs harder.

“I would never think that Trump is good for us. If anything, I wish he would make us work a little bit harder, because now, as a comedian, I’m like, ‘He did this’,” Trevor tells Ellen. “People are like, ‘That’s crazy!’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, and then he did this.’ I’m not doing much, I’m’ just showing you what he did’.”

Trevor Noah also tells Ellen a hilarious story about how he trained with intense tennis coaches to play with Rafael Nadal in a doubles match against Roger Federer and Bill Gates.
