Warren Beatty & Faye Dunaway Redeem Themselves at Oscars 2018, Present Best Picture Again!

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway step out on stage to present the final award of the night at the 2018 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (March 4) in Hollywood.

The legendary actors presented the award for Best Picture for the second year in a row after famously announcing the wrong winner at last year’s show!

This year, the producers had the correct envelope for Best Picture placed on a special podium backstage to make sure it was the right one given to the presenters. A whole process was also put in place to ensure the correct winners were announced.

The award for Best Picture went to The Shape of Water and director Guillermo Del Toro made sure to look inside the envelope to make sure he actually was the winner before giving his speech!

Oscars Best Picture Mistake in 2017 - What Went Wrong, What Happened Next?

One of the most memorable moments in Academy Awards history happened at last year’s show when Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced the wrong winner for the biggest award of the night, Best Picture.

So, how did that moment actually happen and what happened next to everyone involved? Let’s take a look back at that moment in time!

Beatty and Dunaway announce the wrong winner

  • The former Bonnie and Clyde co-stars presented Best Picture together. When Warren opened up the envelope, he looked a little confused and ultimately let Faye announce the winner. She said La La Land and the team from that film came up on stage to accept the award.

Moonlight really won!

  • La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz came forward after some commotion to tell everyone, “There’s a mistake. Moonlight, you guys won Best Picture. This is not a joke… This is not a joke. Moonlight has won Best Picture.” He then showed the real card from the actual envelope to the crowd. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE!

Beatty explains what happened

  • Warren came on stage after the wrong winner was announced to explain what happened. “I want to tell you what happened,” Warren said. “I opened the envelope and it said Emma Stone, La La Land. That’s why I took such a long look at Faye and at you. I wasn’t trying to be funny. Thank you very much. This is Moonlight, the best picture.” WATCH THE VIDEO HERE!
