Billie Eilish, Lizzo, & Lil Nas X Win Big at First-Ever Apple Music Awards

Congratulations to Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and Lil Nas X!

The singers and the rapper, ages 17, 31, and 20, respectively, all took home awards at the first-ever Apple Music Awards, the company announced on Monday (December 2).

Billie won Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year (along with her brother Finneas). Her When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? will be awarded Apple Music’s Album of the Year.

Lizzo won Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and Lil Nas X won Song of the Year for “Old Town Road.”

The winners for Global Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Breakthrough Artist of the Year were “hand-selected by Apple Music’s global editorial team of experts and tastemakers and given to artists who have true passion for their craft, who boldly defy conventions in the category and who embody a sense of humanity, where listeners are drawn as much to who they are as to their music,” according to a press release.

The awards for Album of the Year and Song of the Year are based on “streaming data and reflective of what Apple Music customers have been listening to this year.”

Apple Music will celebrate with a global, live-streamed performance by Billie Eilish at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park on December 4 at 6:30 p.m. PST.
