Aerosmith Reacts to Joey Kramer Suing Band Ahead of Grammys (Report)

Aerosmith is responding to member Joey Kramer reportedly filing a lawsuit against them for excluding him from their 2020 Grammys performance.

The 69-year-old drummer says his fellow members – Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford – are not letting him rejoin the band following a temporary disability, which has never been done to any of them, TMZ reports.

Joey reportedly suffered minor injuries in spring 2019, and when he felt he was ready to return, he was asked to audition to prove his could “play at an appropriate level.”

Joey says that the stress of the situation had “significant repercussions” to his health, and he wound up in the hospital in November, requiring him to cover the cost of a replacement drummer.

When Joey finally auditioned in early January, the band did not let him rejoin.

Aerosmith says they tried to get Joey back for months, but that he couldn’t get it together in time and always backed out.

Joey Kramer‘s legal team has requested that a judge allow him to rehearse with the band (rather than with a “click track”), but no final decision has been made. The case will be revisited on Tuesday (January 21).
