The CW to Make Exciting Change to Schedule for 2021-22 Season!

The CW has announced that they will add a two-hour Saturday primetime block to the schedule this fall, marking the first time in the network’s history that they will offer programming seven nights a week.

Saturday nights will kick off on October 2 with the iHeartRadio Music Festival. The regular Saturday night programming line-up will be revealed on May 25.

“Becoming a seven-night-a-week network has been a long-standing goal for everyone here at The CW,” The CW exec Rob Tuck said in a statement (via Variety). “In an extremely tight broadcast environment, the ability to expand our primetime by two more hours each week is a dynamic shift that will be gladly welcomed by our clients and the agencies. Following the recent industry trend which has seen considerable contraction on a linear basis, The CW will buck that trend this season by adding a new night of original programming, creating new opportunities for us going forward.”

ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox all have Saturday night programming, though none of those networks air any exciting scripted series on those evenings.
