Andy Cohen Says Bravo 'Almost Cast Several Lesbians' in the 'Real Housewives' Franchises

Andy Cohen is dishing on the possibility of having a lesbian in the Real Housewives franchise.

In an interview with Garcelle Beauvais on her podcast Going to Bed with Garcelle, the 52-year-old Watch What Happens Live host revealed that Bravo has considered casting “several” lesbian women in the franchise.

“Have you ever thought about having a gay [Housewives] franchise?” Garcelle asked.

“We’ve talked about that. It was something that we were really into many years ago. We’ve almost cast several lesbians,” Andy shared. “I think when you start casting gay men, it just, it’s ultimately a show about women, which is why the guys have always been in the background, like, the husbands have typically been more in the background.”

He also revealed that one point years ago, Bravo considered adding Dina and Caroline Manzo‘s gay brother to The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

“And so I think the answer is we’ve been open to it. We almost cast a guy on [The Real Housewives of New Jersey] who was Dina Manzo’s brother and Caroline’s brother as the first gay Housewife,” Andy shared. “This was years ago. This was like, 2008 or nine or something like that. But we wound up just not doing it.”

As for if Bravo will add a lesbian to the Real Housewives, Andy said, “If the right person smacked me in the face, yeah.”

Bravo technically has a lesbian in the franchise, with Braunwyn Windham-Burke recently coming out as a lesbian on The Real Housewives of Orange County. However, she was, and still is, married to husband Sean Burke when she joined the show in 2019.
