John Boyega Says He Would Return To 'Star Wars' Franchise, But Only If This Happened

John Boyega might consider returning to the Star Wars franchise under very strict circumstances.

In a new video clip shared on Twitter, the 29-year-old actor lists his requirements out for returning to the fan-favorite franchise, where he starred as Finn, renegade trooper, in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.

In the clip, John says that he is “open to the conversation” of returning, just “as long as it is Kathleen [Kennedy] and J.J. [Abrams], and maybe someone else and the team, it’s a no-brainer.”

Just last year, John shared that he wouldn’t be returning to the franchise after the three movies, due in part with not being happy with Finn’s storyline.

“What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It’s not good. I’ll say it straight up,” he said.

John added, “Nobody else in the cast had people saying they were going to boycott the movie because [they were in it]. Nobody else had the uproar and death threats sent to their Instagram DMs and social media, saying, ‘Black this and black that and you shouldn’t be a Stormtrooper.’ Nobody else had that experience. But yet people are surprised that I’m this way. That’s my frustration.”

Previously, John mentioned another reason he’d return to the franchise.
