Here's What Surprised Jesse Williams The Most About His 'Grey's Anatomy' Exit

Jesse Williams is looking back on filming his final episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

The 40-year-old actor reminisced on the episodes that saw his character, Dr. Jackson Avery, depart Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in the most recent season with Stephen “tWitch” Boss on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Jesse admitted that he was “a little more emotional than I expected, to be honest.”

He adds that being on Grey’s was a “long, beautiful, just spectacular journey…seeing this young kid start and what that character’s journey was, you know, it did contextualize it for me a little bit. It’s pretty nice.”

Jesse left the show in its 17th season, and wrote a poignant goodbye letter to his many fans.
