Archie Renaux goes shirtless as he wraps an arm around Jessie Mei Li in this first look still from Netflix‘s upcoming fantasy series, Shadow and Bone.

Based off the book series of the same name by Leigh Bardugo, the series takes place in a war-torn world where lowly soldier and orphan Alina Starkov has just unleashed an extraordinary power that could be the key to setting her country free.

With the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is torn from everything she knows to train as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. But as she struggles to hone her power, she finds that allies and enemies can be one and the same and that nothing in this lavish world is what it seems.

There are dangerous forces at play, including a crew of charismatic criminals, and it will take more than magic to survive.

Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young and Ben Barnes also star in the show.

Shadow and Bone is expected to premiere on Friday, April 23 on the streaming service.

Julianne Hough and actor Ben Barnes were photographed out together on Thursday (April 16) after news emerged that she and her husband, Brooks Laich, are quarantining separately.

The 31-year-old actress/dancer and the 38-year-old Westworld star headed out together in the Los Angeles area during the shelter at home order in the area.

Ben and Julianne have known each other for years and have been seen hanging out before!

Ben Barnes wants in on the upcoming rumored Rapunzel live-action movie!

A fan took to Twitter on Sunday (February 16) to share side-by-side photos of the 38-year-old English actor and Flynn Rider from the Disney animated movie Tangled.

Ben reposted the tweet, while also adding, “I am so up for this @DisneyStudios…even down to the little chin beard! #Tangled.”

In Tangled, Zachary Levi voiced the role of Flynn while Mandy Moore voiced Rapunzel.

As of right now, Disney hasn’t addressed any of the Rapunzel live-action movie rumors yet.

Netflix just revealed the full cast for their upcoming series Shadow and Bone!

The upcoming show, based on Leigh Bardugo‘s popular novels, is set to star Ben Barnes.

The rest of the cast includes Freddy Carter, Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Amita Suman and Kit Young.

Other reoccurring cast members include Sujaya Dasgupta, Danielle Galligan, Daisy Head and Simon Sears.

Shadow and Bone takes place in a “world cleaved in two by a massive barrier of perpetual darkness, where unnatural creatures feast on human flesh. A young soldier uncovers a power that might finally unite her country but as she struggles to hone her power, dangerous forces plot against her. Thugs, thieves, assassins and saints are at war now, and it will take more than magic to survive.”

Production on the series has just begun in Budapest.
