Bill Cosby to Walk Free, Sexual Assault Conviction Overturned

Pennsylvania’s highest court has agreed to let Bill Cosby walk free, overturning his sexual assault conviction on Wednesday (June 30).

In late 2015, Cosby, 83, was arrested and charged for the sexual assault and drugging of Andrea Constand. He eventually was sentenced to 3-10 years, and vowed to spend 10 years in prison versus express remorse. He had served two years thus far.

Bill Cosby Wins Appeal To Overturn Rape Conviction In Pennsylvania

Bill Cosby has won an appeal by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

The disgraced 82-year-old actor was convicted in 2018 of rape and assault and is currently serving a 3 to 10 year sentence.

Now, the state Supreme Court said it will allow an appeal of his conviction and raised the possibility of his sentence being overturned.

A spokesman for Bill, Andrew Wyatt, says that he is “extremely thankful” for the ruling.

“As we have all stated, the false conviction of Bill Cosby is so much bigger than him — it’s about the destruction of ALL Black people and people of color in America,” he added. “We’re extremely thankful to our attorneys for their tenacious efforts in fighting for the vindication of Mr. Cosby.”

The court added in their statement of the decision, “The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has narrowed the issues on appeal, limiting them to prior bad acts and the sovereign edict. We look forward to briefing and arguing these issues and remain confident in the Trial Court and Superior Court’s previous decisions.”

Just last year, Bill gave an exclusive interview from prison, which he said was his “penthouse”.

Snoop - when they brought me to my gated community and placed me inside of my penthouse, they didn’t win nor did they silence me. It’s so sad and disappointing that successful Black Women are being used to tarnish the image and legacy of successful Black Men, even in death. Are these people that in need of fame, ratings and/or money? On behalf of myself, Camille and my family, thank you, thank you and thank you. My heartfelt prayers are with Kobe and his family, as well as with Michael Jackson and his family. May their legacies live on forever,” Bill wrote.

Bill Cosby's Spokesperson Calls Eddie Murphy 'Hollywood Slave' After 'SNL' Dig

Bill Cosby is slamming Eddie Murphy.

While hosting Saturday Night Live on Saturday (December 21), the 58-year-old Dolemite is My Name actor made a dig at the 82-year-old disgraced actor.

During his opening monologue, Eddie joked that if you told him 30 years ago that he would be a stay-at-home dad with 10 kids while Bill was in jail, he would have taken that bet. He then imitated Bill‘s voice, calling himself “America’s Dad.”

The following day, Bill‘s publicist, Andrew Wyatt, slammed Eddie for “attacking” Bill and called Eddie a “Hollywood slave.”

“Mr. Cosby became the first Black to win an Emmy for his role in I Spy and Mr. Cosby broke color barriers in the Entertainment Industry, so that Blacks like Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappell, Kevin Hart and et al., could have an opportunity to showcase their talents for many generations to come. It is sad that Mr. Murphy would take this glorious moment of returning to SNL and make disparaging remarks against Mr. Cosby. One would think that Mr. Murphy was given his freedom to leave the plantation, so that he could make his own decisions; but he decided to sell himself back to being a Hollywood Slave,” the statement on Instagram reads.

“Remember, Mr. Murphy, that Bill Cosby became legendary because he used comedy to humanize all races, religions and genders; but your attacking Mr. Cosby helps you embark on just becoming click bait. Hopefully, you will be amenable to having a meeting of the minds conversation, in order to discuss how we can use our collective platforms to enhance Black people rather than bringing all of us down together,” Bill‘s publicist concluded.

Bill is currently serving a three to 10 year prison sentence after being convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent assault last year.

Bill Cosby Calls Prison His 'Penthouse' in First Interview Since Sexual Assualt Sentencing

Bill Cosby is calling his conviction a “setup” in a new interview.

The 82-year-old disgraced comedian opened up during his first interview since being sentenced for sexual assault last year.

“I have eight years and nine months left,” he told the National Newspaper Publishers Association’s BlackPressUSA.com, maintaining his innocence.

“When I come up for parole, they’re not going to hear me say that I have remorse,” he continued. “I was there. I don’t care what group of people come along and talk about this when they weren’t there. They don’t know.”

“It’s all a setup. That whole jury thing,” he said while speaking to NNPA over the phone from SCI-Phoenix, a maximum-security prison near Philadelphia.

“I am a privileged man in prison,” he added, calling his cell “my penthouse” and claiming that he mentors the jail’s African American inmates through a prison reform program called Mann Up.
