Mariska Hargitay is reacting to the news that her former Law & Order: SVU co-star Christopher Meloni is going to get his own spinoff series!

Christopher will be returning to NBC as his iconic character Elliot Stabler for a new crime drama series. The show will also be set in New York, centering on “the NYPD organized crime unit led by Stabler.”

The first season of the upcoming series already has a 13-episode order.

Mariska took to Instagram on Thursday (April 2) to wish Chris a happy 59th birthday and also to congratulate him on the new show.

“Congratulations and welcome home Elliot Stabler,” she wrote. In hashtag format she added, “It’s been a while” and “missed you.”

Christopher Meloni is bringing his beloved SVU character Elliot Stabler for a brand-new series!

The 58-year-old Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actor will reprise his role as Elliot in the upcoming NBC crime drama series, Deadline reports.

The show hails from creator and executive producer of the Law & Order franchise Dick Wolf.

Like Law & Order: SVU, starring Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson, Christopher‘s series will also be set in New York, centering on “the NYPD organized crime unit led by Stabler (Meloni).”

The series, which has received a 13-episode order, is the first show to emerge from the huge new “five-year, nine-figure, multi-platform deal” that Dick recently signed with Universal Television.

Christopher Meloni is letting the world know that he is just as hot as the other guys named “Chris” in Hollywood!

Most people just think about Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, and Chris Pine, but now you might have Meloni on the mind too.

The 58-year-old Law & Order: SVU actor took to Twitter to share a photo of his ripped body while stuck in quarantine. He shared two photos of himself in a kilt and one of them was a shirtless shot!

“Quarantine Kilt. With glasses or without?” Chris captioned the post.

The actress and filmmaker took to Twitter that morning to talk about her love for the film and encourage fans to attend.

“One of my FAVORITE films, period. Winner of 6 Academy Awards so this is a special treat play cousins & extended family. I’d love to have you join me tonight as I introduce this iconic black & white masterpiece under the stars @cinespia,” Lena tweeted.

Other attendees at the event, sponsored by Amazon Studios & Amazon Prime Video, were Christopher Meloni and Tall Girl co-stars Sabrina Carpenter and Griffin Gluck.

Christopher Meloni and Elizabeth Reaser have landed roles in The Handmaid’s Tale.

The 57-year-old Law & Order: SVU star will portray Commander Winslow, a “powerful and magnetic Commander who hosts the Waterfords on an important trip.”

Elizabeth will play Commander Winslow’s Wife, Mrs. Winslow, who becomes a friend to Serena (Yvette Strahovski).

Season three of the series will star Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Alexis Bledel, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, Max Minghella, Samira Wiley, Bradley Whitford, and more.

Mariska Hargitay took to Instagram on Sunday (December 30) to share a selfie with former Law & Order: Special Victims Unit co-star Christopher Meloni while they reunited on vacation.

“Vacay…A great night with this one. #Reunited #OldFriends #PTL,” Mariska captioned the below photo.

Mariska and Chris starred together on the first 12 seasons of the SVU before Chris left the show in 2011 over a reported contract dispute. Mariska still stars on the show – which is in its 20th season.

Despite splitting up the show, the pair have remained close friends in real life!

The 47-year-old Haunting of Hill House star was joined at the event by Miles McMillan, Christopher Meloni, Shiloh Fernandez, Tobias Sorensen, Ben Sinclair, Nick Kroll, Alex Lundqvist, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Dean Winters as they all stepped out to show their support.

The film was directed by Alfonso Cuaron and it’s getting a ton of awards buzz. While it won’t be released on Netflix until December 14, the film was released in limited theaters this past weekend.

The movie played in only three theaters in New York and Los Angeles and while Netflix isn’t reporting grosses for the screenings, sources tell THR that nearly all showings were sold out. The film grossed around $90,000 to $120,000 over opening weekend.
