Mindy Kaling & Emma Thompson's 'Late Night' Trailer Debuts - Watch Now!

The first trailer for Late Night, the Sundance favorite, has just debuted!

Here’s a synopsis: Katherine Newbury (Emma Thompson) is a pioneer and legendary host on the late-night talk-show circuit. When she’s accused of being a ‘woman who hates women,’ she puts affirmative action on the to-do list, and—presto!—Molly (Mindy Kaling) is hired as the one woman in Katherine’s all-male writers’ room. But Molly might be too little too late, as the formidable Katherine also faces the reality of low ratings and a network that wants to replace her. Molly, wanting to prove she’s not simply a diversity hire who’s disrupting the comfort of the brotherhood, is determined to help Katherine by revitalizing her show and career—and possibly effect even bigger change at the same time.

The movie was written and produced by Mindy with a cast including Max Casella, Hugh Dancy, John Lithgow, Denis O’Hare, Reid Scott and Amy Ryan. Nisha Ganatra directs.

The film will hit theaters on June 7.

Emma Thompson Explains Decision to Step Away From 'Luck' Movie Role in Powerful Letter

Earlier this month, it was reported that Emma Thompson stepped away from the animated movie Luck at Skydance over John Lasseter‘s involvement.

Now, Emma is confirming that the reports are true and she’s stepping away over Lasseter‘s previous allegations of sexual misconduct while working at Pixar before being hired by Skydance.

“If a man has been touching women inappropriately for decades, why would a woman want to work for him if the only reason he’s not touching them inappropriately now is that it says in his contract that he must behave ‘professionally’?” Emma wrote in a letter to Skydance management, which has been published by the LA Times.

She continued, “If a man has made women at his companies feel undervalued and disrespected for decades, why should the women at his new company think that any respect he shows them is anything other than an act that he’s required to perform by his coach, his therapist and his employment agreement? The message seems to be, ‘I am learning to feel respect for women so please be patient while I work on it. It’s not easy.’”

Emma added, “I am well aware that centuries of entitlement to women’s bodies whether they like it or not is not going to change overnight. Or in a year. But I am also aware that if people who have spoken out — like me — do not take this sort of a stand then things are very unlikely to change at anything like the pace required to protect my daughter’s generation.”

Emma Thompson Exits 'Luck' Animated Movie Over John Lasseter Involvement (Report)

Emma Thompson has reportedly exited the animated film Luck over concerns about working with John Lasseter.

If you don’t know, Lasseter recently began working with Skydance Animation, the studio behind Luck. He came from Pixar, but walked away after reports of unwanted touching and hugging emerged.

The cast of Luck hasn’t been officially announced, but Emma had reportedly already done some scenes for the animated movie, THR reports.

The movie reportedly focuses on two organizations: the organizations of good luck and bad luck and how they affect our daily lives.

Emma Thompson Defends Wearing White Sneakers to Become Dame at Buckingham Palace

Emma Thompson wore white sneakers earlier this month while in the presence of Prince William at Buckingham Palace to become a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

The 59-year-old actress responded to the controversy on the My Dad Wrote a Porno podcast, saying, “They were posh trainers.” To be specific, the sneakers were Stella McCartney‘s $325 Stan Smith vegan style sneakers.

“Of course you have to understand as well as not listening to any f—ing podcast ever, well yours obviously, but mostly not. I don’t do social media so I have no idea when they say ‘Oh my god you caused a stir.’ I go, “Why?’” she continued.

She then added “I got into terrible trouble wearing jeans to Cannes once. I was wearing a very sparkly top look, if you’re wearing a sparkly top it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing underneath it. Their fashion police went, ‘Oh my god! What is she doing? She is destroying the whole Cannes experience! Everyone is coming to see the beautiful Cannes actresses all dressed up looking gorgeous and look what she is doing, she’s wrecking the whole thing!’”
