It has been confirmed that Gillian Anderson will play the role of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on the fourth season of The Crown!

It was previously reported that Gillian was in talks for the role back in January 2019 and her deal has been in negotiations since early 2018.

The fourth season of The Crown is currently in production, even though season three has not debuted yet. It will begin streaming on Netflix on November 17, two years after season two was released.

“I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of The Crown and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman,” Gillian said in a statement. “Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era.”

Gillian Anderson and Tom Hanks hit James Corden‘s couch on a special London episode of The Late Late Show last night (June 17)!

The 50-year-old Sex Education actress talked about having to sing a song while starring in The West End’s All About Eve onstage, despite being, in her own words, “bad” at singing.

Tom, 62, also revealed his own fear of performing music, specifically playing guitar, with his wife Rita Wilson who often sings.

Katharine McPhee and Gillian Anderson are looking so chic.

The 35-year-old I Fall In Love Too Easily singer and the 50-year-old X-Files actress hit the red carpet at the 2019 Olivier Awards at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday (April 7) in London, United Kingdom.

Katharine presented during the evening’s ceremony, while Gillian was nominated for Best Actress for her work as Margo Channing in All about Eve.

Katharine is currently starring in the West End production of Waitress. The show will be eligible at next year’s Olivier Awards.

Gloria Estefan, Sally Field, Bill Pullman, Kelsey Grammer and Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical nominee Patti LuPone were all in attendance at the event, as well as Beverley Knight, who performed during the In Memorium section of the show.

The role of Margaret Thatcher on The Crown may be played by Gillian Anderson!

According to THR, the deal has been in talks since April. Season three is currently in production after the show was renewed for a third and fourth season.

Season four will reportedly feature Margaret Thatcher and Princess Diana, though it’s unclear if Gillian would appear in the third season as well.

The third season of the hit Netflix show is rumored to be premiering in 2019 though an exact release date has not been confirmed.

The therapist is in, in Netflix’s new teen dramedy Sex Education.

The eight-episode series stars Gillian Anderson and Asa Butterfield and takes a look into the strange life of Otis Milburn, a teenage boy with a sex-therapist mother.

Things get even weirder when Otis, a reluctant expert on the subject, becomes his peer’s unofficial sex therapist after his home life is revealed at school.

“What started as an interesting hook for a comedy show about teenagers, quickly progressed into an opportunity to deal with often unspoken and difficult issues concerning early sexual experiences, the painful reality of puberty and the urgent need for inclusive sex education. Whatever stage of life you’re at, we hope you’ll be able to relate to the excruciating, awkward, vulnerability of first-time kisses, conflicts, wanks and loves!” creator Laurie Nunn explained.

Sex Education debuts on Netflix on January 11th.

The 50-year-old Sex Education star helped Greenpeace hand a petition of over 300,00 signatures calling for the government to support a Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary.

“Today I delivered @Greenpeace’s global petition to the UK Government, calling for a new Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary,” Gillian tweeted. “In just a couple of weeks, governments will meet to discuss the Antarctic. Tell them to do the right thing at http://protectantarctic.org #ProtectAntarctic”

Greenpeace is calling for a 1.8 million square kilometre ocean sanctuary, which would be a safe haven to wildlife including penguins, whales and seals, to be created at a meeting of governments in Tasmania later this month
