“And I think that’s why my baby is so happy…,” Greta continued. “Because she’s very strong and compassionate and non-judgmental, like, I feel that my baby felt her love.”

'Little Women' Stars Respond to Greta Gerwig's Oscars 2020 Snub

Little Women received several nominations for the 2020 Oscars this morning, but director Greta Gerwig was noticeably snubbed from the list.

Some of the stars of the film are not happy about this snub.

“I’m really happy that the Academy recognized [Gerwig] for Adapted Screenplay and Picture, and I feel like if you’ve been nominated for Best Picture, you have essentially been nominated for Best Director,” Saoirse Ronan, who was nominated for her performance in the film, told Deadline. “But to me, Greta, since she started, has made two perfect films, and I hope when she makes her next perfect movie, she gets recognized for everything, because I think she’s one of the most important filmmakers of our time.”

Florence Pugh, who was also nominated for her work in the film, said “[It's] a big blow, especially because she created a film that is so her and so unique and it’s just come out of her, and it’s been a story she’s wanted to do for so long. I think everybody’s angry and quite rightly so. I can’t believe it’s happened again, but I don’t really know how to solve it. I don’t know what the answer is, other than we’re talking about it.”

There were some other massive snubs from the 2020 Academy Awards nominations list as well.

Greta Gerwig Tells 'Kimmel' She Called Out The HFPA for Not Nominating Her at the 2020 Golden Globes!

Greta Gerwig has no problem calling out the The Hollywood Foreign Press Association!

While making an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday (January 7), the 36-year-old filmmaker and actress revealed that she ran into members of the HFPA while arriving very early to the 2020 Golden Globes.

Greta wrote and directed the movie Little Women and the HFPA was slammed for not giving her a nomination. She was in attendance in support of her husband Noah Baumbach, who was nominated for his film Marriage Story.

“He was doing all this pressed but I was just there early. I was in this banquet hall with no one there and then I saw all the members of the HFPA sort of inside,” Greta recalled. “They were all like, ‘we voted for you,’ and I was like, ‘well you didn’t because I didn’t get nominated. Maybe one of you did, but it’s not possible that all of you did.’”

Greta also talked about her 9-month-old baby Harold, the potential of going up against her husband during awards season, her new movie Little Women, and she revealed what it was like directing Meryl Streep.

Greta Gerwig Opens Up About Her Intense Process as a Filmmaker: 'I Go Feral'

Greta Gerwig gets serious on the cover of the February issue of Elle UK, on sale January 9th.

Here’s what the 36-year-old filmmaker and actress had to share with the mag:

On her process as a filmmaker: “Everyone who works with me can attest to this – I go into a zone where I don’t wash or return calls and I go feral. I can go into hyperfocus as well as becoming more scattered. I like things that have a great deal of pressure and a lot of deadlines, because I need it.”

On directing Meryl Streep: “Oh, I was terrified as a director, because what am I going to say to her? She’s so smart and she knows more about how films are made than anyone. There were a couple of lines I wrote to get a character from A to B, inelegantly, and you know when Meryl asks, ‘Now why do I say that?’ you’d better have a f**king good answer. It’s intimidating, but it forces you to be better. Unfortunately, it’s uncomfortable to get better, because it means you have to look like an idiot in front of her. But she’s fabulous.”

On being a new mom: “There’s no way I could do it without that help [paid help], as well as my mother and my friends. Whatever you were prepared for, none of it is how you think, as far as I can tell. There has to be a certain amount of denial that goes on.”
