Hugh Grant Had Coronavirus & Reveals What Happened to Him

Hugh Grant revealed that he was diagnosed with Coronavirus at the beginning of the pandemic and told The Late Show‘s Stephen Colbert all about his experience.

“It started as just a very strange syndrome where I kept breaking into a terrible sweat,” the 60-year-old actor said. “It was like a poncho of sweat, embarrassing really. Then my eyeballs felt about three sizes too big and this…a feeling as though an enormous man was sitting on my chest, Harvey Weinstein or someone.”

Hugh then said he eventually lost his sense of smell, a hallmark symptom of the virus.

“By then people were just starting to talk about this as a symptom,” he said. “And I started sniffing flowers, nothing. And you get more and more desperate. I started sniffing in garbage cans. You know, you want to sniff strangers’ armpits because you just can’t smell anything.”

“I eventually went home and I sprayed my wife‘s Chanel No. 5 directly into my face,” Hugh added. “Couldn’t smell a thing, but I did go blind.”

There is some hopeful news about the Coronavirus vaccine.

“I think there was something where I think I really wanted a role … maybe I was gonna do a small role in Love, Actually at one point,” Nicole said in a conversation with Marie Claire. “Yeah. Yes.”

“Were you? Which part?” Hugh asked, and Nicole responded, “I can’t remember. It was not a big role. And I really wanted the role that Julia Roberts played in Notting Hill. … Yeah, I did. But I wasn’t well known enough, and I wasn’t talented enough.”
