Jim Carrey Talks About The Kanye West In His New Book: 'He's One Of The Great Characters of Our Zeitgeist'

Jim Carrey has opened up in a interview about his brand new book, the semi-autobiographical “Memoir and Misinformation”.

During his conversation on Real Time with Bill Maher, the 58-year-old actor spoke about the “characters” of Nicolas Cage, Charlie Kaufman, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

“Nick Cage loves it, he’s out of his mind over it. He thought it was awesome,” Jim shared. “He was like ‘go forward!’ Immediately he was honored by the whole process. Joe Dangerfield sent me lovely emails about how much he loved it, and how much Rodney Dangerfield would have loved it.”

The conversation then turned over to Kanye West, who is also featured as a “character” in the book.

“It’s a very strange thing where parody becomes very parallel with reality,” Jim shared, as Bill pointed out the similarites between the real life person and the “character” Jim had invented. “But we’ve got to mark these things, you know.”

He added, “[Kanye West] is one of the great characters of our zeitgeist at this moment and I wanted him to have a place in it. No matter what he’s doing. I can’t figure it out.”

Jim Carrey Thought He Was Going to Die During the Fake Missile Alert in Hawaii

Jim Carrey is opening up about the terrifying experience he went through when a fake missile alert went out to people in Hawaii back in 2018.

The 58-year-old actor was talking about his new memoir on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when he recounted what happened.

Jim said he was spending time in Hawaii and his assistant called him in tears to say they had just 10 minutes to live.

“It was completely real to us,” Jim said. He said he tried to get off the island with his daughter, but he couldn’t. He said his goodbyes and went to the beach to spend his final moments looking at the ocean.

“At that point I started going, ‘OK what can I do with this last moment of time’. I just decided to go through a list of gratitudes and honest to God I just could not stop thinking of wonderful things that have happened to me and blessings I’ve had,” Jim said. “It was lovely. And I got to a point of grace at about two minutes to spare when I found out it wasn’t actually happening. All I was planning to do was closing my eyes and be thankful because it’s been a good ride.”

When he found out the missile alert was fake, he joked, “I got pissed off and heads rolled.”

In another interview this week, Jim revealed which actress was the “great love” of his life.

Howard Stern asked Jim during an interview about using that phrase to describe his ex and he responded, “She was special to me, very special. I think she’s lovely.”

He was then asked if she was “the one that got away,” to which the actor replied, “I don’t regret, I don’t have those things. But I do appreciate the people that have come through my life for the good that they gave me and that’s why Linda Ronstadt has a special place in the book.” Jim dated Linda briefly in the 1980s.

“I don’t pine for anybody, it’s not that kind of situation. It’s just my way of saying ‘There was a very important thing there’ and recognize that,” Jim added.

If you missed it, Renee recently reunited with another famous ex.
