Leonardo DiCaprio Argued with 'Killers of the Flower Moon' Screenwriter Eric Roth, He Confirms

Screenwriter Eric Roth just confirmed that he and star Leonardo DiCaprio got into some arguments over Killers of the Flower Moon.

Eric is writing the script and Leonardo is starring in the film!

“I spent four or five years on this book, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ which everybody should read. It’s a wonderful book,” Eric told IndieWire. “My screenplay I think was accurate to the book. It’s the story of Osage Indians, 1921, the poorest people in America who discover oil in this terrible land in Oklahoma where they’ve been driven to. Then every killer in America comes to kill 184 of them for their money, but this really heroic guy comes in [to help].”

He added, “That’s supposed to start filming in March once the Covid clears out, and it’s Martin Scorsese. They’ll be continuing rewrites with that. Leonardo [DiCaprio] wanted some things changed that we argued about. He won half of [the arguments]. I won half of them. So that’s happening.”

Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry and Tomer Sisley are also joining the cast, which also includes the previously announced Rob Morgan.

Adam will write, direct and co-produce.

The comedy is about “two scientists who discover that a meteor will strike the Earth in six months. They go on a media tour trying to warn the world but find an unreceptive and unbelieving populace.”

“She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call ‘a dynamite act.’ And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way,” said Adam in a previous statement about booking Jennifer Lawrence.

According to the report, Leonardo had been weighing the project for some time, considering his schedule in filming Martin Scorsese‘s Killers of the Flower Moon.

A theatrical release “seems very likely,” but Deadline reports that this film is “a sign of things to come as it is unclear when theaters will fully reopen as more and more movies are either pushing their release dates or move from a studio to a streamer.”

Ariana Grande also just made an unexpected announcement!

Leonardo DiCaprio Says We'll Never Be Equal Until Everyone Votes

Leonardo DiCaprio is lending his voice and producing power to the new limited series Whose Vote Counts, Explained and he’s giving insight into the importance of the election.

Whose Vote Counts, Explained was created through a partnership with Vox Media, Netflix, and Leo‘s Appian Way Productions. He serves as one of the series’ narrators alongside John Legend and Selena Gomez.

The three short-form episodes will cover voting rights, money and politics, and how the system is rigged from gerrymandering to the electoral college. You can watch the trailer below!

People just released a new video from the series and the Oscar-winning actor talks about the history of voting.

“In 1776, voting was a privilege, almost exclusively for white men with property,” Leo says in the clip.

Two voters then say, “In the founding constitution, you will not find the right to vote. This right to vote has been a battlefield in American democracy. If your vote didn’t matter, why the hell are so many systems and people trying so hard to prevent you from voting?”

Leo then concludes the video by saying, “All of us may have been created equal. But we’ll never actually be equal until we all vote. So don’t wait.”

Whose Vote Counts, Explained premieres on Netflix on September 28.
