Luke Evans is about to star in another Disney movie!

The 41-year-old actor, who has previously appeared as Gaston in Beauty and the Beast and will again in the upcoming Disney+ prequel series, is now set to join Pinocchio!

The flick, that is expected to head straight to Disney+, will take notes from the 1940 classic animated movie and center on the tale of a living puppet who, with the help of a cricket as his conscience, must prove himself worthy to become a real boy.

Luke is expected to play The Coachman, opposite Tom Hanks as Geppetto.

If you are unaware, The Coachman is one of many antagonists in the story and is notorious for luring “stupid little boys” to Pleasure Island, where they are transformed into donkeys and sold on the black market.

Just recently, Luke opened up about his split from boyfriend Rafael Olarra.

Earlier this week, a new interview with Luke attributed a quote to him confirming that he had split from his boyfriend of one year, Rafael Olarra.

After reports spread around the internet that the couple broke up, Luke took to his social media to write a letter to fans addressing the reports.

Luke Evans has written a letter to his fans to address the reports that he has broken up with boyfriend Rafael Olarra.

While the split has been rumored for months, it seemed that Luke confirmed the news during an interview with UK outlet The Times over the weekend. “It is what it is,” he told the newspaper.

Luke took to his Instagram Stories on late Monday night (January 11) to write a note about all the reports spreading around.

Luke Evans has confirmed his breakup from Rafael Olarra after rumors were circulating about their relationship.

While speaking with The Times’ Saturday Review, the 41-year-old actor confirmed he and the 42-year-old former footballer split, saying, “It is what it is.”

In the same interview, he spoke about his desire to become a dad, saying, “I thought about it many times and as I get older I’m thinking maybe I should get on and do it. I don’t want to be an old dad… but I would like to be a dad. There’s a lot of satisfaction to passing on your experiences and rearing a strong, open-minded, kind, respectful human being who can go out in the world and do something good.”

Back in October of 2020, fans began speculating that the pair had gone their separate ways after going public with their relationship in February of that year. They unfollowed each other and deleted photos of each other from their pages, prompting speculation. They then refollowed each other the very next day.

During Disney’s Investor Day event, the company confirmed plans for a Beauty and the Beast prequel series starring Luke as Gaston and Josh Gad as Le Fou.

Josh took to Twitter after the news and said, “Luke and I will perform the sizzle live for you all. Don’t worry. Right @TheRealLukevans? #BeautyAndTheBeastPrequel.”

“Excited much!!!!” Luke said in reaction to the news.

The show is being created by Once Upon a Time‘s Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz alongside the two actors. Alan Menken will write new music for the series, which was first announced back in March.

In an interview released last week, Luke addressed speculation that he once hid his sexuality.

While he’s been out during his entire career, there was a time that it was speculated that Luke was going back into the closet because of how guarded he was about his personal life. For Luke, he just wanted to keep some things private and out of the media.

“It was the last thing I had, because everything else I’ve given to the world. My career was public, I was photographed, and all that stuff. My personal life just became the last thing that I had,” Luke explained. “Also, what was strange was that when people did find out that I was gay, there was a lot of articles and stuff written saying that I was hiding it, and I wasn’t.”

“I just wanted to get online and I wanted to pick up the phone and say, ‘Do you realize I left home at 16 because I was gay?’” Luke continued. “I went into the world as a kid, because I had to. I am proud and happy, and I’ve lived a very big life that I’m super happy with. And I’ve never been ashamed. And now all of a sudden I was being treated in this way and it was a scary moment because I was, like, oh God, this is horrible. This is not true. None of this is true.”

Luke added: “I just try and be authentic, because this is who I am. I am this person. I’m not creating another image so that I can portray one to you.”
