Lili Reinhart joins her Riverdale co-stars Madchen Amick, Luke Perry, and KJ Apa while attending a Build Series panel on Monday (October 8) in New York City.

The cast was at New York Comic Con this weekend and Lili applauded the writers of Riverdale for not basing the storylines of the show on what fans write in fan fiction.

“I applaud you for doing that,” Lili said (via Variety). “It would be so much less interesting if everything that fans wanted to happen on the show happened. I feel like the steam would run out really quickly. I think it is good that the writers continue for what they want — their vision. It is not anyone else’s vision.”

The third season of Riverdale premieres on October 10 on The CW!

The co-stars were joined by creator and executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

During the panel, they announced two new cast members joining season three – Gina Gershon and Trinity Likins.

Gina will play Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) mother Gladys Jones, who runs the salvage yard (chop shop) that doubles as a Serpent compound, and the Serpents all snap to attention when she gives them an order. A Serpent with a GED, she acts as Fagin to a crew of teenaged car parts thieves.

Trinity will play his sister Jellybean “JB” Jones, who is wise beyond her years, and her favorite bands are Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath. Jellybean lives with her biker mom in Toledo where they run scams to make ends meet. And like mother like daughter: Jellybean — who goes by JB now — is quite the little con artist herself.

Benedict is nominated for an Emmy in the Best Actor category at television’s biggest night for his role in Showtime’s Patrick Melrose.

During the panel, the cast talked up the upcoming third season, and even shared a sneak peek video!

It was also announced that Penelope Ann Miller has joined the cast as District Attorney Ms. Wright, who is the “savvy, eloquent, prosecuting attorney in charge of handling Archie’s case. With a conviction in mind, she will weave together disparate moments of Archie’s young life to portray him as a dangerous, violent sociopath who is capable of committing a heinous crime.”
