Amandla Stenberg and Maria Bakalova will be starring in a new movie together!

The 22-year-old The Hate U Give star and the 24-year-old Borat 2 breakout star will be starring in the upcoming thriller Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, Deadline reports.

Details for the Halina Reijn-directed movie are being kept under wraps, but sources are describing the project as a “secret slasher film.”

There are rumors going around that Pete Davidson and Myha’la Herrold are in talks to join the cast of Bodies, Bodies, Bodies.

This is the second new movie in the works for Maria. Last month, it was announced that she has joined the star-studded cast of Judd Apatow‘s upcoming Netflix movie.

Judd Apatow is getting back in the director’s chair for his very first movie at Netflix and he has set up a star-studded cast list for the project.

The upcoming comedy is called The Bubble and it is set during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deadline reports that the “film follows a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a film. The pic couldn’t be more timely as more and more productions are ramping back up even as Covid-19 remains in full effect around the world.”

Judd co-wrote the movie with Lady Dynamite creator Pam Brady and he is also producing the film.

Did you know that Judd has only directed six other feature films? His other credits are 2005′s The 40-Year-Old Virgin, 2007′s Knocked Up, 2009′s Funny People, 2012′s This is 40, 2015′s Trainwreck, and 2020′s The King of Staten Island.

Maria Bakalova was one of the first winners of the night at the 2021 Critics Choice Awards!

The 24-year-old Bulgarian actress won the award for Best Supporting Actress during the event, which took place virtually on Sunday (March 7).

Maria won the award for playing Borat’s daughter Tutar Sagdiyev in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. The other nominees in the category were Pieces of a Woman‘s Ellen Burstyn, Hillbilly Elegy‘s Glenn Close, The Father‘s Olivia Colman, Mank‘s Amanda Seyfried, and Minari‘s Youn Yuh-jung.

It was announced last month that Maria‘s next big American project will be Judd Apatow‘s upcoming pandemic-themed movie The Bubble, which will feature a star-studded cast. THR reports that the movie is a “meta-comedy will be about a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a studio franchise film.”

There was so much great fashion at the 2021 Golden Globes last night.

Some of the stars that showed off their looks during their virtual appearances include The Crown‘s Olivia Colman, Promising Young Woman‘s Carey Mulligan, Borat‘s Maria Bakalova, and Normal People‘s Daisy Edgar Jones. All of these stars were nominated last night but did not end up winning.

The Flight Attendant‘s Audrey Grace Marshall and singer/songwriter Celeste were also seen at the big event.

Maria Bakalova is a Golden Globe nominee!

The 24-year-old Bulgarian actress, who was a breakout star in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, shared a statement of excitement after receiving a nomination for her role in the movie.

“A person dreams and dreams and dreams but things are so unpredictable,” Maria shared in a statement via Deadline. “It’s incredible what is happening, I’m speechless.”

Maria was nominated for the Golden Globes’ category for Best Performance By an Actress In A Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Rosamund Pike, Kate Hudson, and Anya Taylor-Joy.

In the film, Maria plays Tutar, the daughter to Sacha Baron Cohen‘s character Borat. The 49-year-old actor received two Golden Globes nominations – Best Performance in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for his role in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and Best Supporting Performance in a Motion Picture for his role in The Trail of the Chicago 7. Borat Subsequent Moviefilm also received a nomination for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Maria is the first ever Bulgarian actress to receive a Golden Globe nomination.

“What excites and motivates me the most is the prospect of many Eastern European actors and creators being noticed and finding opportunities in Western cinema where they have not been represented,” Maria added. “People who have an accent and may not be speaking perfect English but are working really hard on that. They could finally be given a chance to play multi-dimensional characters like Tutar.”

Since Borat Subsequent Moviefilm was released late last year, Sacha has been singing his praises for Maria, calling her “one of the most courageous actors in history.”

Maria Bakalova chats with her agent Cade Hudson while enjoying some downtime at the beach over the weekend in Miami, Fla.

The 23-year-old Borat Subsequent Moviefilm actress chilled out with her friends in the sand while walking along the short before returning to her hotel where she was masked up to go indoors in the public space.

Maria was seen in a cute one piece suit with jeans on the beach, and toasted in celebration with the men she was with there.

She is best known for her breakout role in the Sacha Baron Cohen film, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, for which she’s gaining critical acclaim. In fact, she just picked up a major award for her role!

“Turned out she had just had her graduation from an acting academy she was going to, and it was the middle of the night after the graduation, and she’s in this attic, and she was just hilarious and real and doing some material that we’d sent her,” director Jason Woliner shared with Collider about how they cast Maria in the role of Sacha‘s on-screen daughter, Tutar.

He added that, “it was a speech about how her daddy’s the best daddy in the village and her cage is nicer than the other girls’. She just had so much cockiness and bravado about how nice her cage was that it was really hilarious. And she also felt so real.”

After her initial From there, both Sacha and Maria both flew to England to shoot test footage, where they were in disguise and played opposite an older English couple who were unaware of what was going on.

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm breakout star Maria Bakalova is speaking out about that infamous scene.

The 24-year-old actress plays Borat’s (Sacha Baron Cohen) 15-year-old daughter, Tutar, and she winds up interviewing the former New York City major and current Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

During the infamous scene, he asks for her name and address, and the camera captures Maria reaching into his shirt to retrieve his microphone as he gives her a pat on the back. When she turns away, Rudy lies down on the bed and reaches into his pants.

“Sacha jumped into the room quickly, because he’s been worried about me,” the 24-year-old Bulgarian actress told the New York Times. “So, if he were late, I don’t know how things were going to go. But he came just in time.”

She added, “I saw everything that you saw. If you saw the movie, that’s our message. We want everybody to see the movie and judge for themselves.”

“Yeah. I was nervous,” she continued. “My heart was racing. But Sacha was like, you should be nervous in this situation. So use your nerves. Convert them and accept them and they’re going to help you through everything.”

“I was kind of scared that something would happen. But fortunately, we escaped,” Maria added. “We’d been talking a lot about different scenarios. How should I act, this way or this way? What should I do? What is smarter? But in all of the scenarios, I was confident that Sacha will save me and he will save the scene, so it’s not going to be a disaster. He’s my guardian angel.”
