Kathryn Gallagher has released the music video for her new single “Take What I Can Get,” which she said was a family affair!
The 27-year-old singer and actress, best known for playing Annika in season one of You, won a Grammy Award earlier this year for her work in the Broadway show Jagged Little Pill. She’s also nominated for a Tony Award for her performance as Bella Fox.
Kathryn has opened up about the experience of making the video for “Take What I Can Get.”
“When it came to making the video I asked two of my best friends who also happen to be incredible artists,” she said. “Natalie Margolin is the best writer and story telling brain that I know. Gracie Warwick has an ability to transform any space into something truly extraordinary. Both of them create magic where ever they go. We created this video together in my high school bedroom where we used to have slumber parties and talk about our oceanography final. It was very full circle and special.”
“Markus Mentzer was our trusted and magical cinematographer. He made all our wildest dreams come true and made us feel beyond lucky and excited,” she continued.
“My brother James Gallagher who is a brilliant director and writer in his own right made this possible in every single way (and was also our colorist) he made everything happen and just like when we were little kids, I looked to him for the answer to every question (and there were … a lot),” Kathryn said. “My dad was our PA and my mom helped me fix my hair and blow up balloons. This was a full family affair and I really hope you like it :).”
For those of you who don’t know, Kathryn‘s dad is actor Peter Gallagher!
