Nikolaj Coster-Waldau teamed up with the United Nations for an empowering trip to Rwanda!

The 48-year-old Game of Thrones actor joined the United Nations Development Programme for the trip in hopes of shining a spotlight on the progress the country has made since the genocide against the Tutsi.

“All I knew of Rwanda was that it was the scene of one of the worst tragedies in modern history: The genocide against the Tutsi people. Almost a million people killed. I expected to find a country in despair. I couldn’t have been more wrong,” Nikolaj said in a statement.

He continued, “From the moment I arrived in Kigali to the moment I left, I was constantly impressed by what I experienced. By how rapidly change can happen if there is connection between the people and the political will of the government. And how the power of forgiveness is much stronger than the power of hate.”

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau hit James Corden‘s couch on The Late Show alongside Sara Bareilles on Wednesday (April 10) and revealed that that the original Game of Thrones cast recently sat down to watch it’s 2009 pilot that never say the light of day.

“There was this pilot that was — 95% was reshot [later],” the 48-year-old actor admitted. “And we sat down, the original cast with Dan and David — the two creators — and they showed this thing to us and it was unbelievably bad. It was absolutely amazing to see.”

Nikolaj said the original episode was so terrible that “there’s no reason we’re sitting here talking about this today, no one should have picked that up.”

“But there was one guy, Richard Plepler, who was the CEO of HBO, who was like apparently the only one who went like, ‘This is great! Let’s do it!’ And then we did it, and we reshot,” he added. “But it just goes to so you, you really, you never know.”

There are only a couple more days until the premiere of Game of Thrones‘ final season and Busy Philipps is trying to get spoilers out of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

The 48-year-old actor made an appearance on Busy Tonight on Thursday (April 11) in Los Angeles.

Busy held up a promo photo of Nikolaj in character as Jaime Lannister and asked as many questions as she could think up that pertained to the photo!

“I was literally blown away, it was so good. I was like how can you end this? … I can’t imagine it ending in a better way,” Nikolaj said about reading the ending of the series.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday (April 9) and dished all about the closure of his hit HBO series, Game of Thrones!

The 48-year-old actor – who plays Jaime Lannister – revealed that for the eighth and final season, security was so high the cast were no longer given paper scripts and instead used an app called Synchronize, which showed a brief preview of the lines before permanently deleting.

“We got the script – well first you had to download an app because of course, you can’t get paper [scripts] anymore – and the scripts came and when you finish them they would magically disappear,” Nikolaj revealed. “I disliked it.”

Jimmy then quizzed Nikolaj on whether he’s read any fan theories that are correct, to which he responded, “Some. But I’ve never read any where they got the whole thing,” Nikolaj said, without revealing any spoilers, he added the ending is “satisfying, it’s sad-isfying.”

That same evening, Nikolaj switched into a teal suit to hit the red carpet at the launch celebration of Nobleman Magazine‘s Issue #9 at Timothy Oulton Los Angeles Showroom.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is teasing the final season of Game of Thrones!

The 48-year-old actor stepped out for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday (April 9) in Los Angeles.

Nikolaj, who plays Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones has been making the rounds discussing the HBO hit’s highly-anticipated final season.

“Even though he’s known as the most dishonorable man, he is a man of his word. The promise they made was very important, but it also was the right thing to do,” he told TVLine of Jaime’s arc in season eight. “He gave his word to his brother, who is the only person he truly trusts.”

Game of Thrones returns April 14 on HBO.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau makes an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing on Tuesday (April 9), and does his best to not spill any spoilers ahead of the Game of Thrones season-8 premiere.

Ellen offers the 38-year-old actor two T-shirts. One reads, “I died on Game of Thrones and all I got was this lousy T-shirt” and the other reads, “I survived all 8 seasons on Game of Thrones and all I got was this lousy T-shirt.”

Nikolaj takes both shirts and promises Ellen he would wear one of them following the conclusion of the upcoming season.

Nikolaj also talks about his recent trip with the United Nations to Rwanda.

Earlier in the week, Nikolaj attended the season eight premiere of Game of Thrones, and the next day shared a selfie while using an under eye mask.
