Celebrities stepped out to mourn and remember their friend and co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman on Friday morning (February 7) at his funeral in New York City.

The 46-year-old actor passed away tragically this past weekend from an apparent drug overdose.

Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Ethan Hawke, Amy Adams, Ellen Burstyn, Michelle Williams, Julianne Moore, Joaquin Phoenix, Louis C.K., Mary Louise Parker, John Slattery, Jerry Stiller, Marisa Tomei, Spike Lee, Anna Paquin, and Diane Sawyer and her director husband, Mike Nichols, were just some of his friends who attended the funeral.

Philip left behind his partner of 15 years Mimi O’Donnell and their three children – Cooper, 10, Tallulah, 7, and Willa, 5, along with his mom Marilyn O’Connor.

The evening before, Philip‘s family and friends attended a wake for their friend.

Designer’s House is a marketplace that provides access to high-end home furnishings from elite interior designers and boutiques.

“There won’t ever be enough flowers in the world to shower you with once you are lost to me,” Jena tweeted about her late co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman. “But why wait for separation to herald the beauty in the world. So much beauty in the world it’s blinding. And can be paralyzingly. It can be terrifying. And yet we wake up each day and live. And keep living. In fear, in love, in madness. We keep living.”

She added, “And then one day we don’t wake up. I don’t want to wait for that day to bring you flowers. I want you to know I love you today. That you inspire me. That I am here for you. Cause maybe you haven’t been reminded of your beauty in a long time. And all it takes is one person to reach out and be a mirror. Can we all just be a mirror and go out of our way everyday to support the human heart. That can go blind from too much beauty. Can we just try ? #RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman.”

Philip Seymour Hoffman was remembered by his family and friends at a wake held on Thursday evening (February 6) at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home in New York City.

Many celebrities including Cate Blanchett with husband Andrew Upton, Justin Theroux, Amy Adams with fiance Darren Le Gallo, Michelle Williams, Joaquin Phoenix, Ellen Burstyn, and more attended the wake.

Philip‘s partner Mimi O’Donnell and their three children – Cooper, 10, Tallulah, 7, and Willa, 5 – along with his mom Marilyn O’Connor were in attendance as well.

Amy taped an episode of Inside the Actors Studio the day before and reportedly teared up while talking about Philip, who she worked with in the films Doubt and The Master.

“Amy talked about how he was the greatest actor she had worked with, and couldn’t even tell stories about him without crying,” an eyewitness told Us Weekly. “She said to the audience of acting students ‘I wish you all could have had the chance to work with him.’”

A private funeral service will be held on Friday at the St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church.

Justin Theroux covers up to keep warm from the freezing weather after leaving Mimi O’Donnell‘s apartment on Wednesday afternoon (February 5) in New York City.

This was the 42-year-old actor’s third visit to the late Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s partner in the past three days.

Justin and Philip worked together in the 2005 comedy Strangers With Candy.

Also paying their respects to Mimi that day were Michelle Williams and Joaquin Phoenix, who have both worked with the late actor and have experienced their own loss from drug overdose.

Elizabeth Banks is red hot while making an appearance on The Today Show on Wednesday morning (February 5) in New York City.

Later in the day, the 39-year-old actress changed into a black and white ensemble while stopping by Extra to chat about her new animated movie The Lego Movie.

Elizabeth was asked to comment on the death of her The Hunger Games: Catching Fire co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman while appearing on the morning program.

“I’m still processing it,” Elizabeth said. “I really am in shock.”

“He is an absolutely amazing actor, respected by everyone and part of our family at The Hunger Games,” she added. “We will miss him terribly, and obviously, [we're] really upset for his children and his partner. It’s just a tragedy.”

Michelle Williams makes her way through the slushy sidewalks as she enters Mimi O’Donnell‘s apartment building on Wednesday afternoon (February 5) in New York City.

The 33-year-old actress paid her respects to the partner of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, who she worked with on the 2008 movie Synecdoche, New York.

New reports have surfaced this week that Philip had tried to help Michelle‘s former partner Heath Ledger quit drugs before his umtimely death six years ago.

Joaquin Phoenix, who worked with Philip on the critically acclaimed movie The Master, stopped by the same day for a visit with his girlfriend Allie Teilz.

The results of Philip‘s autopsy were released that day, but they were inconclusive and more testing will need to be done to determine the cause of death.
