The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”
A film version of the Broadway musical Matilda is currently in the works and Emma Stone and Ralph Fiennes are in talks to star in it!
Emma is being courted to play Miss Honey, the title character’s kind-hearted teacher who also becomes her mentor, according to the Daily Mail.
Ralph is reportedly in final negotiations to play headmistress Agatha Trunchbull. While the character was played by a woman in the 1996 movie Matilda, men in drag have played the role in the stage musical.
Matthew Warchus, who directed Matilda for Broadway and the UK’s West End, will be directing the movie. Sony and Netflix are making the film together. A theatrical release is being planned for the UK and the rest of the world will reportedly view the movie on Netflix.
Emma previously won an Oscar for starring in the movie musical La La Land and she appeared on Broadway in the musical Cabaret. This would mark Ralph‘s first musical project.
The 54-year-old actor plays Dr. John Dolittle in the upcoming film.
Here’s the synopsis for the vivid reimagining of the classic tale of the man who could talk to animals: “After losing his wife seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle (Downey), famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria’s England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company. But when the young queen (Jessie Buckley) falls gravely ill, a reluctant Dolittle is forced to set sail on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, regaining his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures.”
It continues, “The doctor is joined on his quest by a young, self-appointed apprentice (Harry Collett) and a raucous coterie of animal friends, including an anxious gorilla (Rami Malek), an enthusiastic but bird-brained duck (Octavia Spencer), a bickering duo of a cynical ostrich (Kumail Nanjiani) and an upbeat polar bear (John Cena) and a headstrong parrot (Emma Thompson), who serves as Dolittle’s most trusted advisor and confidante.”
The stars opened up about their new movie, which is a prequel to the Kingsman franchise.
Ralph explained why he decided to sign on for the film.
“I enjoyed the first Kingsman films, and very much respected the clever balance of relationship and action that Matthew established,” he told the crowd (via THR). “I thought it was an unusual and original spin on the British spy theme. I was flattered and delighted when Matthew proposed this prequel to the story. I hope that, when you see the film, you will see there is a richness to the way that the Kingsmen intelligence agency started.”
Matthew decided to make the movie because he was “watching a lot of the Oscar movies and thinking, I never want to watch any of these movies again. I wanted to do a love letter to the movies I grew up to, and especially The Man Who Would Be King.”
Here’s a synopsis of the film: As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them.
The King’s Man will hit theaters on February 14, 2020.
