Ricky Gervais‘ opening monologue from the 2016 Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 10) was super funny, and we have the video for you right here!

The 54-year-old actor made lots of jokes about celebs in attendance and celebrities who were not there, such as Bill Cosby.

Ricky made a joke about Jennifer Lawrence‘s wage gap essay, and poked fun at Sean Penn for interviewing El Chapo.

“I want to do this monologue and then go into hiding,” Ricky said. “Not even Sean Penn will find me. Snitch.”

The 54-year-old British comedian will be returning as the host of the Golden Globes for the fourth time this Sunday night and he opened up about the gig on The Today Show.

“You do have to address things,” Ricky said. “But I’m never trying to undermine the moral fabric of America. I’d rather people laugh than gasp. But if they gasp that’s good, too.”

“I don’t want this nauseating, backslapping ‘aren’t we all great’ … yeah, we know we’re all great. It’s entertainment, it’s fairyland, it’s TV, this isn’t real, we’re … not saving lives,” he added.

Ricky Gervais is set to return as the host of the 2016 Golden Globes!

This will be the fourth time that the 54-year-old funnyman will host the show.

“Tina and Amy are a hard act to follow but Ricky is completely fearless and entirely up for the job,” NBC’s president of alternative and late-night Paul Telegdy said (via Deadline). “He always did us proud. Welcome back, Ricky.”

The 54-year-old actor was making an appearance to present an award when he pretended as if he won. He actually is nominated tonight for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for Derek: The Special.
