'Roseanne' Reboot in the Works? ABC Eyeing Sara Gilbert's Darlene as New Focus!

ABC is reportedly in talks to bring back Roseanne as a reboot with the focus centered around the character of Darlene, played by Sara Gilbert.

TMZ is reporting that ABC is considering “re-branding the show” after Roseanne Barr sent out a racist tweet causing the show to get canceled.

One focus ABC currently has is to “desperately [try[ to salvage the jobs of those who were affected” by the cancellation.

So far, no official word.

You may remember, Sara was one of the first cast members from the Roseanne reboot to react to Roseanne‘s racist tweet.

Sara Gilbert Reacts to Roseanne Barr's Tweet Amid 'Roseanne' Cancellation News

Sara Gilbert reacted to Roseanne Barr‘s offensive and racist tweet moments ago with a statement on Twitter.

If you missed it, earlier, Roseanne sent out a tweet about former adviser to President Obama, Valerie Jarrett. ABC then released a statement and cancelled the show.

Sara starred on the original Roseanne and on the reboot.

Sara posted, “Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.”

She continued, “This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love— one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member.”

Sara Gilbert & 'The Talk' Co-Hosts Discuss Lance Bass Hiding Sexuality During *NSYNC Days (Video)

Lance Bass‘ sexuality was a main topic on The Talk this week.

During *NYSNC‘s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony, the 38-year-old band member opened up about his decision to hide being gay because he was “terrified of the lasting rejection.”

After the ceremony, the ladies of the CBS talk show – including Sara Gilbert, who is openly gay – reacted to Lance‘s explanation behind staying in the closet.

“I don’t know if it was the right thing, but I understand why he felt that way because so many people felt that way,” Sara said. “It certainly wasn’t the wrong thing if he felt that was what he needed to do. But I think the higher good is to be able to say something and I think we’re in a climate now where people feel safe to do that.”

Sara Gilbert Reveals She Had The Idea To Resurrect 'Roseanne'!

Sara Gilbert hit Stephen Colbert‘s couch on Monday night (March 26) and talked all bout her daytime show The Talk and returning as Darlene on the Roseanne revival.

The late show host questioned Sara about who of the original cast was the hardest to get back onboard. “Honestly it was pretty easy across the board,” the 43-year-old actress admitted.

“I think everybody thought that everybody else wouldn’t come back. When I spoke with Roseanne she was the only one that sort of hesitated for a second because there had been some drama the first time around,” Sara continued. “She said, ‘but if I do it, you have to protect me if the studio pushes back or if there’s any problems with the studio.”
