Casey Affleck is opening up about brother Ben Affleck‘s recent breakup from Ana de Armas.

While promoting his new movie Our Friend, Casey, 45, addressed Ben, 48, and Ana, 32, splitting up after almost a year of dating.

“The reality is, I think that this year has been really hard on people in relationships,” Casey told Entertainment Tonight. “I wouldn’t know because I’ve been single, but I bet there are a lot of people that have, you know, it’s been challenging to relationships.”

Casey went on to gush about Ana, saying, “I think that Ana is just the sweetest, funniest, smartest, most charming person. I think she won’t have any problems meeting somebody else.”

Earlier this week, it was announced Ben and Ana had broken up, and a source shared one of the reasons why the relationship didn’t work.

Also in his interview, Casey said he has high hopes for Ana‘s movie career.

I saw her performance as Marilyn Monroe in this movie called Blonde, which hasn’t come out, and I would bet a lot that she’s gonna pick up every single award,” Casey said. “She’s gonna have a good year. I’m not too worried about her.”

Casey added, “I think she’s a catch in every way. And I’ll be there to carry Ben through it, but I don’t think he’ll have any problems [either]. My advice to them would be like, ‘Yes, think long and hard about it, because quarantine is not fun if you’re single.’”

Shortly after news of Ben and Ana‘s split broke, a man was spotted throwing a cardboard cutout of Ana into the garbage outside of Ben‘s house, and people on Twitter were convinced Casey was the man.

However, Casey wants everyone to know that it was not him in the viral photos.

“A bunch of people sent that picture to me and I was gonna tweet some, like, joke, response or something. And then I couldn’t think of one and a joke didn’t seem appropriate,” Casey said. “And I don’t have Twitter so that wasn’t going to work. But it definitely wasn’t me.”

There’s a theory spreading around social media that Casey Affleck was the person who threw out the cardboard cut-out of Ana de Armas, but it’s not true.

In case you missed it, Ben Affleck decided to throw out his cut-out of his ex-girlfriend Ana on the same day that reports of their breakup went public.

After fans saw the photo of a man throwing the cut-out in the trash, someone came up with the theory that it was Casey in the photo. The theory even became a trending topic on Twitter! The man wore a face mask that covered nearly his entire face, so it’s hard to tell who is behind the mask.

Well, if you look at the other photos that are out there, you can see that the man is clearly wearing a shirt for Diamond Landscaping. It’s highly unlikely that Casey is working for the landscaping company that Ben uses, so we’re confident that he’s not pictured.

The trailer for Katherine Waterston and Vanessa Kirby‘s new period drama The World to Come has been released.

In the movie, the two actresses play lovers while Casey Affleck and Christopher Abbott portray their husbands.

Here’s the synopsis: “In this powerful 19th century romance set in the American Northeast, Abigail (Waterston), a farmer’s wife, and her new neighbor Tallie (Kirby) find themselves irrevocably drawn to each other. A grieving Abigail tends to her withdrawn husband Dyer (Affleck) as free-spirit Tallie bristles at the jealous control of her husband Finney (Abbott), when together their intimacy begins to fill a void in each other’s lives they never knew existed. Directed by Mona Fastvold and scripted by Jim Shepard and Ron Hansen, The World to Come explores how isolation is overcome by the intensity of human connection.”

If you missed it, Vanessa is getting a lot of Oscar buzz for her other new movie, which was just released on Netflix!

The World to Come will be released in theaters on February 12 and on digital March 2.

Last month, it was reported that Casey had sold the New York City apartment that he bought with another Oscar-winning actor. They had a falling out several years ago and now have gotten rid of their place together.

Next up on Casey‘s film slate are the thriller Every Breath You Take and the drama The World to Come, both of which are in post-production. They don’t have release dates yet.

Casey Affleck and Joaquin Phoenix, who are former brothers-in-law, haven’t spoken in years and now they have sold the New York City apartment that they purchased together.

If you didn’t know, Casey used to be married to Joaquin‘s sister Summer Phoenix. When the couple split, the guys had a falling out.

Joaquin said in a recent interview that they haven’t spoken “in many years… My sister and him divorced. And I haven’t spoken directly to him or indirectly in a long time. Three or four years.”

The guys had purchased a loft near the TriBeCa neighborhood in New York City and they just sold it for $3.135 million, according to People.

Zoe Saldana is taking on a new role.

The Avengers: Endgame actress will star in the upcoming Jasmine McGlade-directed drama Fencer, Deadline confirmed on Thursday (February 13).

Here’s a plot summary: “Set in the competitive world of fencing, Saldana is attached to play Mae, an ambitious female athlete facing personal demons and childhood rivals as she vies for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team. The film is inspired by McGlade’s own experiences as a national champion fencer. McGlade capped her tenure at Harvard by leading her team to the school’s first-ever NCAA Championship title.”

Casey Affleck is producing with Whitaker Lader.

“We feel so lucky to be a part of Fencer, which is an unflinchingly honest look at an ambitious, complex woman whose relationships and motivations defy simple categorization.
