Daveed Diggs & Sesame Street's Super Bowl Commercial for DoorDash - Watch Now!

Daveed Diggs is hanging out with the Sesame Street gang!

The 39-year-old Hamilton, Snowpiercer, and Blindspotting actor starred alongside Sesame Street characters in DoorDash’s new commercial airing during the 2021 Super Bowl on Sunday (February 7).

Sesame Street characters in the commercial include Big Bird, Grover, and Cookie Monster among others.

In the commercial, Daveed and the Sesame Street gang show just how easy and convenient it is for people to use and order food from the food delivery service while also encouraging people to order/shop local.

In a recent interview, Daveed gushed about working with all the people on set of Sesame Street, along with the people that control the characters.

“The performers are incredible. I remember sitting on the couch with Cookie Monster, and we’re between takes just having conversations, you know, just like actors talk to each other between takes, catching up on what each other was doing,” Daveed shared with People. You totally forget that [those characters] are animated.”

Daveed Diggs Says He's Worked Harder on His 'Little Mermaid' Character Sebastian Than Anything Else He's Done

It was just recently confirmed that Daveed Diggs will star in the upcoming live action adaptation of The Little Mermaid as Sebastian, and now the actor is opening up about the role.

“I worked harder on Sebastian probably than I have for any role in my life,” the 39-year-old actor revealed in a new interview with Collider. “It’s tricky.”

Daveed continued, saying that he tends “to say yes to things when I feel like I can do it, but I’m actually not sure I’m the smart choice or the person naturally who should be doing it. That’s true of Sebastian, for a lot of ways that are uncomfortable.”

“I’m not of Caribbean descent, doing that kind of work and trying to immerse myself. I’ve spent a lot of time in Trinidad and I went to Jamaica to research, and I did a lot of voice work with Chris Walker and with the late Tony Hall, to try to get the voice right,” he added. “But more than the voice, the thing about a dialect is that everybody’s voice is actually very different, so consistency is really more important than accuracy. Your speech pattern is based on culture, and that was the thing I didn’t wanna let down.”

Daveed admits that with his role as Sebastian, he wants “somebody who is from Trinidad or from Jamaica, depending on where we landed with the role, to be able to see themselves in this, in some way.”

He also went on to say that it is cool being part of the film, as he does get to hear most of the new songs before anyone else.

“[It's] pretty wild. You get to hear a new song before it comes out and it’s amazing, and then you hear the performance of it by an actor you might not expect to be able to do that and that’s also amazing,” he shares. “There are so many cool surprises that I know and I’m just sitting on.”

Daveed will star with Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, Javier Bardem, Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina in the upcoming film.

Daveed‘s TNT series, Snowpiercer, returns for season two tonight.

'Snowpiercer' Brings Layton & Wilford Face To Face In First Trailer For Season Two

Daveed Diggs and Sean Bean come face to face in the brand new trailer for the second season of Snowpiercer.

During the virtual New York Comic Con panel, showrunner Graeme Manson opened up about the threat of Wilford and the dynamic between him and Alexandra, who is also Melanie’s daughter.

“We’re just very lucky to have [Rowan Blanchard, who plays Alexandra] with us. It’s really nice to have someone of her age next to Sean Bean and watch those two work together,” he shared. “But it’s a true shock at the end of Season 1 that that’s who this is and then it’s going to be a tremendous shock for Melanie at the beginning of Season 2, that her daughter is alive.”

He continued, “Not only that her daughter is alive, her daughter has been under Wilford’s sway and to some degree, or to a degree that we’re going to figure out, has been turned against her. So it’s a terribly heartbreaking position for Melanie to step into and it also sets up Rowan’s character for a real journey throughout the season, a journey of enlightenment and a journey into adulthood, really.”

Snowpiercer season two will premiere in January on TNT.
