'Snowpiercer' Renewed For Season Three Ahead of Season Two Premiere

TNT has announced that a third season of Snowpiercer is on the way!

The series, which stars Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly, will be back for a third installment just days ahead of the premiere of season two, which bows on Sunday, January 25.

The first season of the series, which was inspired by the film of the same name, brought in 3.3 million total viewers for the premiere, making it TNT’s largest premiere since 2018.

In season two, Snowpiercer will pick up just as Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) boards the train from his own rival train.

A new power struggle will emerge amongst the two trains, causing a dangerous rift as people are divided between their loyalty to Layton (Diggs) and to Mr. Wilford, who has a new train, new technology and a game plan that keeps everyone guessing.

While Layton battles Wilford for the soul of Snowpiercer, Melanie (Connelly) leads the charge on a shocking new discovery that could change the fate of humanity.

Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand, and Steven Ogg also star in the series.

Here’s what you need to know about Rowan‘s character…

'Snowpiercer' Brings Layton & Wilford Face To Face In First Trailer For Season Two

Daveed Diggs and Sean Bean come face to face in the brand new trailer for the second season of Snowpiercer.

During the virtual New York Comic Con panel, showrunner Graeme Manson opened up about the threat of Wilford and the dynamic between him and Alexandra, who is also Melanie’s daughter.

“We’re just very lucky to have [Rowan Blanchard, who plays Alexandra] with us. It’s really nice to have someone of her age next to Sean Bean and watch those two work together,” he shared. “But it’s a true shock at the end of Season 1 that that’s who this is and then it’s going to be a tremendous shock for Melanie at the beginning of Season 2, that her daughter is alive.”

He continued, “Not only that her daughter is alive, her daughter has been under Wilford’s sway and to some degree, or to a degree that we’re going to figure out, has been turned against her. So it’s a terribly heartbreaking position for Melanie to step into and it also sets up Rowan’s character for a real journey throughout the season, a journey of enlightenment and a journey into adulthood, really.”

Snowpiercer season two will premiere in January on TNT.

Who Will Play Alexandra on 'Snowpiercer' in Season Two?

SPOILER ALERT – This post contains major spoilers from the season one finale of Snowpiercer, so beware of reading any further!

The role of Alexandra has been revealed on the season one finale of Snowpiercer!

Alexandra will be played by Rowan Blanchard in the upcoming second season of the TNT thriller.

It was revealed that the character is the daughter of Melanie (Jennifer Connelly), who was kicked out of power on the train and gave it to the rebel cause after getting rid of some of the First Car elitists.

Melanie says she left her daughter with her grandparents as she worked on the train, and was presumed to be dead.

After the second train crashes into the Snowpiercer, Alexandra boards the last car saying that she is there looking for Melanie.

During a season two sneak peek, it is revealed that Mr. Wilford – who will be played by Sean Bean – is still alive and he is back to reclaim his train.

The season two premiere date of Snowpiercer has not been announced yet.

Will 'Snowpiercer' Get a Second Season on TNT? Find Out Details Here!

Snowpiercer is airing its thrilling first season finale right now on TNT and many fans are wondering about the future of the show.

We’re happy to report that the show, starring Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly and more, will be back for a second season.

In fact, showrunner Graeme Manson is hoping that the show will be on for many more seasons than that.

He spoke to Collider, and hinted at what’s to come with season two, which was shut down as they were wrapping up filming on it.

“When we got into Season 2, we were like, ‘Well, we’ve never put these two characters together.’ I love that kind of exercise for the writers’ room, and the writers love that, too. It’s fun to put two opposites together and see what you can find with them.”

He adds, “There are as many Snowpiercer stories as there are trains that you can imagine… With this cast, let’s hope that we’re looking at five or six seasons.”

Annalise Basso, who plays rebel LJ Folger, revealed her own hopes for season two, three and beyond.

“I hope one day we’ll be able to take viewers off of the train,” she shared. “And I don’t know if that will happen and what the budget for that would be like, but maybe we could go to Iceland or Greenland or somewhere like that to film the exterior shots, who knows!”

The two-part season finale of Snowpiercer is airing now on TNT and you can stream it on the TNT app.
