Gugu Mbatha-Raw Reveals 'Friends' Helped Her Learn an American Accent - Watch!

Gugu Mbatha-Raw is opening up about perfecting her American accent!

During her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday (November 7), the 36-year-old actress from the United Kingdom opened up about her new show The Morning Show.

Also during her interview, Gugu revealed that she turned to co-star Jennifer Aniston‘s show Friends to help her speak with a convincing American accent and learn about New York City.

“That’s how I learned my American accent,” Gugu shared. “I used to imitate all of the characters – and I genuinely thought New York was.”

Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Diane Kruger happily strike a pose together while attending Through Her Lens: The Tribeca CHANEL Women’s Filmmaker Program cocktail reception held at Greenwich Hotel Penthouse on Wednesday evening (November 6) in New York City.

The 36-year-old Motherless Brooklyn actress and the 43-year-old Welcome to Marwen actress served as jury members at the event alongside Sam Taylor-Johnson and Paula Weinstein.

Writer-director Hannah Peterson and producer Taylor Shung were selected by Diane Kruger and the jury to receive the production grant, along with production support from Tribeca Studios for their short film, CHAMP.

Additionally, the four other projects in the program each received a development grant to support continued work on their respective films to bring them closer to production. In total $100,000 in filmmaker grants were awarded between the five projects.

This program for women filmmakers helps break barriers of access and exposure in the industry so any support you can assist with would be meaningful and please keep it in mind for future stories about initiatives to support and change the landscape for women storytellers.

Also in attendance at the event were actresses Jennifer Westfeldt and Alysia Reiner.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw Wants To Do A Movie-Musical!

Gugu Mbatha-Raw wants to have a musical moment!

While making an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden alongside Hailee Steinfeld on Tuesday (October 29), the 36-year-old actress revealed she’s ready to make the move into movie-musicals.

“I don’t know, I hope so. I would love to do one,” Gugu told host James. “I did so much growing up as a kid so I would love to do a movie musical.”

“I grew up on all the Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals,” she continued. “The first thing I think I ever saw was Cats. Obsessed. Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, all of them.”

Edward Norton & Gugu Mbatha-Raw Get Star Support at 'Motherless Brooklyn' Premiere!

Edward Norton and Gugu Mbatha-Raw happily strike a pose together while attending the premiere of their latest film Motherless Brooklyn held on Monday (October 28) at the Hollywood American Legion Post 43 in Los Angeles.

The leading stars were joined at the event by their co-star Ethan Suplee and writer Jonathan Lethem, as well as special guests Aaron Paul, Seth Rogen, Juliette Lewis and her husband Steve Berra, Minnie Driver, Thom Yorke and his girlfriend Dajana Roncione, Jack McBrayer, Will Forte and Jeff Garland, who all came out to show their support.

Also in attendance to show her support was Edward‘s wife Shauna Robertson.

Motherless Brooklyn has been Edward‘s passion project for the past two decades and he not only stars in it, he also wrote, directed, and produced the movie. The film hits theaters on November 1st – check out the trailer!

Tom Hanks, Christian Bale, & Edward Norton Kick Off Awards Season at Governors Awards 2019!

Tom Hanks, Christian Bale, and Edward Norton step out for the 2019 Governors Awards on Sunday night (October 27) at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood.

The guys all were in attendance to help kick off awards season!

Tom was joined at the event by his A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood co-star Matthew Rhys and director Marianne Heller.

Christian was there to help present an Honorary Oscar to his friend Wes Studi. His Ford v Ferrari co-star Josh Lucas was also there.

More stars in attendance included Motherless Brooklyn‘s Edward Norton (with wife Shauna Robertson) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Kate Beckinsale and Gugu Mbatha-Raw arrive in style for the screening of Farming on Tuesday night (October 22) at the Village East Cinemas in New York City.

The 46-year-old British actress went glam in a white, feathered dress while the 36-year-old Motherless Brooklyn actress went bright and colorful in a pink dress as they stepped out to promote their movie.

Joining Kate and Gugu at the screening was the movie’s director Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Farming follows a young Nigerian boy, “farmed out” by his parents to a white British family in the hope of a better future, instead becomes the feared leader of a white skinhead gang. The film while be out in select theaters on Friday, October 25th.

Edward Norton joined the cast of Motherless Brooklyn while stopping by SiriusXM!

The 50-year-old actor, along with Alec Baldwin and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, made an appearance on Town Hall on Monday afternoon (October 21) in New York City.

Motherless Brooklyn has been Edward‘s passion project for the past two decades and he not only stars in it, he also wrote, directed, and produced the movie.

Set in 1950s New York, the movie follows Lionel Essrog, a lonely private detective living with Tourette Syndrome, as he ventures to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend, Frank Minna.
