Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is hard at work on a Pinocchio movie for Netflix and the star-studded cast has been revealed!

The new adaptation of the classic tale will be a stop-motion animated musical movie. Set during the rise of Fascism in Mussolini’s Italy, del Toro‘s Pinocchio is a story of love and disobedience as Pinocchio struggles to live up to his father’s expectations.

Newcomer Gregory Mann is playing the title role, Ewan McGregor will play Cricket, and Harry Potter‘s David Bradley is Geppetto.

Also in the cast are Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, and Burn Gorman.

“After years of pursuing this dream project, I found my perfect partner in Netflix,” Guillermo said in a statement. “We have spent a long time curating a remarkable cast and crew and have been blessed by continuous support from Netflix to quietly and carefully soldier on, barely missing a beat. We all love and practice animation with great passion and believe it to be the ideal medium to retell this classic story in a completely new way.”

Guillermo is directing the movie with Fantastic Mr. Fox‘s Mark Gustafson. He wrote the script with Patrick McHale and the song lyrics with Katz, with music by Alexandre Desplat, who also is writing the score.

Bradley Cooper is sporting new facial hair on the set of his upcoming movie Nightmare Alley!

The 45-year-old actor was spotted with a thin mustache while filming the upcoming Guillermo Del Toro movie on Thursday (February 27) in Buffalo, N.Y.

Bradley was seen on set with co-star Rooney Mara, who was dressed in an all-red outfit.

In the upcoming film, “an ambitious young carny (Cooper) with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who is even more dangerous than he is.” Rooney will be playing a carnival worker.

There have already been some set photos featuring Rooney and Cate that made the film look like it could be Carol 2!

Lana Del Rey and J.J. Abrams are paying tribute to Guillero del Toro!

The 34-year-old Lust For Life singer and the 53-year-old Star Wars director were in attendance to speak at the 54-year-old director’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony on Tuesday (August 6) in Hollywood, Calif.

In Lana‘s speech, she described him as “a man who is as kind as he is deep and as wise as he is fun.”

“In a culture of sameness, he is completely himself, and that’s the greatest lesson I get from all of his tales,” she went on to say.

Lana will sing a cover of Donovan‘s “Season of the Witch” for Guillermo‘s upcoming Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark film adaptation.

“I remember thinking, ‘I really have to work my ass off because this guy is pure genius,” J.J. said of the director.

Cate Blanchett might be taking on a new role!

The 50-year-old Ocean’s 8 actress is in talks to star in Guillermo Del Toro‘s Nightmare Alley, Variety reported on Friday (August 2).

The film already stars Bradley Cooper, and is expected to begin shooting at the beginning of 2020.

The movie is based on the William Lindsay Gresham novel of the same name. There is also a 1947 version of Nightmare Alley, which starred Tyrone Power as an ambitious young con-man who teams up with a female psychiatrist who is even more corrupt than he is. At first, they enjoy success fleecing people with their mentalist act, but then she turns the tables on him, out-manipulating the manipulator.

Guillero will direct and co-write the movie.

Guillermo, director André Øvredal, and actor Austin Abrams attended a press event on Monday (June 3) in New York City to debut new footage.

Adam Lambert is dapper in a suit as he hits the carpet at the 2018 Patron of the Artists Awards held at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday (November 8) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Guillermo del Toro hits the black carpet alongside screenwriter Kim Morgan at the 2018 LACMA Art + Film Gala presented by Gucci on Saturday night (November 3) at LACMA in Los Angeles.

The 54-year-old The Shape of Water director is being honored at the event tonight alongside photographer Catherine Opie.

Fellow directors stepping out for the event included Damien Chazelle and wife Olivia Hamilton, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and wife Maria, George Lucas and wife Mellody Hobson, and Alfonso Cuaron.
