Laura Dern & Naomi Watts Do a David Lynch-Themed Photo Shoot

Laura Dern, Naomi Watts, Patricia Arquette, Chrysta Bell and Hailey Gates pose for a David Lynch-themed photo shoot for W magazine. All the actresses have worked with the famed director in the past.

Here’s what they shared with the mag:

Naomi, on David not believing in traditional auditions: “David will look at three or four, or maybe five, different pictures and say, ‘Okay, I’ll see those girls.’ If you’re the third person on the list and he’s had a great meeting, he doesn’t meet girl number four or five. So my getting the part felt like fate.”

Laura, on getting cast and then finding out what part you’ll play: “I’m always excited and surprised by what he asks me to play. Even in the beginning, I signed on because of David. He inspires that trust.”

Naomi, on sex scenes: “The sex in his films is emotional. It is not gratuitous. You feel that he is getting at something primal.”
