Charlize Theron Stuns in White While Being Honored at Glamour Women of the Year Awards

Charlize Theron looks stunning on the red carpet while attending the 2019 Glamour Women of the Year Awards on Monday (November 11) at Alice Tully Hall in New York City.

The Oscar-winning actress was joined at the event by the other honorees – director Ava DuVernay, Grown-ish actress Yara Shahidi, soccer player Megan Rapinoe, fashion designer Tory Burch, and “The Handmaid’s Tale” author Margaret Atwood.

The other women being honored this year are activist Greta Thunberg and the Women of the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES).

“Throughout this year at Glamour, we have celebrated women that are going big, whose influence we’ve felt reverberating beyond just a single moment. When we started to think about who to honor as our Women of the Year, we realized that these women are not just promoting one issue or one conversation, they are using their voices and platforms to have a lasting impact for generations to come,” Glamour editor-in-chief Samantha Barry said about the honorees. “This group of exceptional women are having the tough conversations that open doors, and forge new paths on issues ranging from equal pay to climate change. They’re inspiring cross generational people globally and we are proud to honor them as Women of the Year.”

Megan Rapinoe Explains Why She Doesn't Care About Being Liked

Megan Rapinoe poses on in front of the Statue of Liberty on the digital cover of Glamour‘s Women of the Year issue, on newsstands October 24th.

Here’s what the 34-year-old World Cup superstar had to share with the mag:

On not caring about being liked: “That’s not how you inspire people. That’s not the kind of personality that affects change – you always have to buck up against society.”

On speaking out on issues of social justice and inequality: “I’m the antithesis of no f**ks given- I give all the f**ks. I just feel that it’s my responsibility to make the world a better place – we all have that responsibility.”

On the expectations placed on women: “We are always having to qualify our accomplishment. We always have to be like: Yes, we won, and we’re inspiring a generation, and we’re touring the country, and we’re social activists, and we’re really marketable, and, and, and! We just did something amazing. Winning the World Cup is very difficult — it’s arduous, it’s a long cycle, it’s hard. And then on top of it, we inspired a movement that transcended the sport. Now we have to come home and fight a lawsuit to convince everyone that we’re worth a little bit more money? That’s bulls**t.”
