Frances McDormand & Chloe Zhao's 'Nomadland' Wins Top Prize in Venice, Oscars Race Begins Now!
Frances McDormand and Chloe Zhao are two names you’ll probably be hearing throughout the upcoming awards season!
The actress and director teamed up for the movie Nomadland and they were in attendance for the drive-in premiere held on Friday (September 11) at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
The movie is earning rave reviews and it also played at the Venice Film Festival, where it just won the festival’s Golden Lion Award.
Critics are saying that Frances is giving the performance of her career and she could be on track to win her third Academy Award. Chloe, who is directing the upcoming Marvel movie The Eternals, also seems to be a lock in the Best Director category.
With 23 reviews counted on Rotten Tomatoes, Nomadland currently has a perfect score of 100%.
Here is the movie’s synopsis: Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad.
