Rob Gronkowski is speaking out for the first time about the murder conviction of his former teammate Aaron Hernandez, who was arrested in 2013 for murder.

The football players were teammates on the New England Patriots from 2010 to 2013.

Aaron was arrested for murdering his fiancee’s sister’s boyfriend Odin Lloyd. He was also charged in connection with two fatal drive-by shootings. He was convicted of Lloyd‘s murder and acquitted in the double homicide. He was sentenced to life in prison, but was found dead in his prison cell just days later after hanging himself at the age of 27.

Rob addressed the situation during an episode of the 10 Questions with Kyle Brandt podcast.

“Aaron was a great player,” Rob said. “He was a great football player. But, I mean, I get questions like that all the time about him and everything. And with everything going on, I was definitely shook when I heard that, when I heard everything about it. Because being his teammate and everything and you just, you really don’t see that.”

He added, “You’re not really looking into players like ‘that’s who they are’ or ‘that’s what they’re doing.’ But just overall, I just try to keep it simple and light. He was a great football player but that does not mean anything.”

Aaron Hernandez is being honored three years after his death.

The convicted murderer and former New England Patriots football player, who committed suicide in a Massachusetts prison back in 2017 while serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd, was remembered by former fiancee and mother to their child Avielle Janelle Hernandez, Shayanna Jenkins, in a post on Sunday (April 19).

“The love between father and daughter knows no distance,” she captioned the post.

“We think of you today. May you Rest In Peace and continue to watch over us! #AH81 #foreverinourhearts.”

Netflix has dropped the first teaser trailer for its upcoming documentary series about Aaron Hernandez, called Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez.

The streaming service released the chilling video about the late NFL player on Thursday (December 19).

“Killer Inside: The mind of Aaron Hernandez,” they tweeted along with the clip. “From the studio that brought you Making a Murderer and Evil Genius, witness the rise and fall of the infamous athlete Aaron Hernandez. How can someone who had everything throw it all away? January 15, only on Netflix.”

Aaron‘s football career came to a quick end following his arrest and conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013. Aaron Hernandez was serving a life sentence when he died by suicide in prison over two and a half years ago.
