George Clooney's Wife Amal Has Started Watching 'E.R.'

George Clooney is opening up about how his wife Amal has started watching his iconic television series E.R.

For those that don’t know, the 59-year-old Oscar-winning actor and director played the role of pediatrician Doug Ross on the beloved NBC medical series from 1994 to 1999.

Doug was known for being a ladies man and it doesn’t seem like Amal is a big fan of the character!

“My wife is watching them now, and it’s getting me in a lot of trouble because I’d forgotten all of the terrible things [Doug] was doing picking up on women,” George said on the SmartLess podcast.

Podcast co-host Jason Bateman suggested that Amal might get starstruck around George now that she’s watching the show and the actor responded, “Yeah, that’s not my wife.”

George also spoke about meeting Amal. He said, “She was brilliant and funny and beautiful and kind. I was sort of swept off my feet. We got engaged after a few months and got married within the first year that we met. It surprised me more than probably anybody else in the world—and everybody else was pretty surprised.”

We have new photos of George on the set of his upcoming movie from last week!

During the interview, he revealed the couple still writes letters for each other after four years of marriage.

“Even in lockdown, I’ll write a letter and slip it on her desk, or she’ll write a letter and leave it under the pillow. I’m a big believer in letter. I have letters from Paul Newman, Walter Cronkite, Gregory Peck. I have them framed. I put them in the house. If it were a text, it would feel different. Maybe that’s a generational thing, and maybe it won’t be that way 20 years from now, but for me, somebody sat down and wrote it,” he explained.

He also explained why the couple chose the names Ella and Alexander for their 3-year-old twins.

“I didn’t want, like, weird-ass names for our kids. They’re already going to have enough trouble. It’s hard being the son of somebody famous and successful. Paul Newman‘s son killed himself. Gregory Peck‘s son killed himself. Bing Crosby had two sons kill themselves. I have an advantage because I’m so much older that by the time my son would feel competitive, I’ll literally be gumming bread,” he explained.

One star revealed she used to use George Clooney‘s name to get tables at restaurants.

George Clooney Never Discussed Marriage with Amal Before He Proposed - Hear His Proposal Story!

George Clooney is opening up about how he proposed to wife Amal Clooney and how they never actually talked about getting married before that moment.

The 59-year-old two-time Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker was a guest on Howard Stern‘s SiriusXM show this week and he discussed the proposal.

George realized he wanted to propose to Amal while they were in Africa on a safari. His proposal plan involved a homecooked, candlelit dinner, a custom engagement ring, and a romantic record sung by his famed aunt, Rosemary Clooney.

“I got it all timed out so I’m going to ask her on this one song. We’ve never talked about marriage, so I don’t know what’s going to happen,” George said. He revealed that he hid the ring in a drawer and told Amal to dig through it to find something to light the candles.

“She opens the drawer and there’s a ring in it, and she looks and goes … ‘There’s a ring.’ Like, somebody else had left a ring there 10 years ago,” George said. At this moment, he got down on one knee and Amal was so shocked that it took her 20 minutes to answer the question.

George said, “Finally, I said to her, ‘Look, I just need a yes or a no because I’m 50-something and my hip can go out.’”

Amal Clooney Thanks Husband George Clooney For Sticking By Her While Writing New Legal Book

Amal Clooney is gushing over her husband, George Clooney.

The 42-year-old human rights lawyer spoke about her filmmaker hubby during the virtual launch of her new legal text, “The Right to a Fair Trial in International Law”, according to ETCanada.

Amal opened up about how the text has taken a toll on her marriage as she was writing it.

“I know this process seemed interminable to him,” Amal shared with the virtual audience. “Especially since I was always so sure that this was ‘the very last drafting session,’ over and over again!”

She added, “The book drafting took place at all his filming locations and throughout the process. He was not only patient but so wonderfully encouraging and inspiring…I really did not need another example of how amazing he is but this process provided one.”

Amal even gave him a shoutout during the launch as she had a hunch he was watching, too.

“I think he’s watching this downstairs in the kitchen, so I just want to say ‘thank you,’” she shared. “For my side, I can promise for the sake of our marriage that I will never do this again!”

Just recently, George opened up in an interview of his own about Amal‘s support throughout the filming of his new film, The Midnight Sky.

“There is no question that having Amal in my life changed everything for me. It was the first time that everything that she did and everything about her was infinitely more important than anything about me,” he said.

During the interview, he spoke about his wife, as well as their 3-year-old twins Alexander and Ella.

“There is no question that having Amal in my life changed everything for me. It was the first time that everything that she did and everything about her was infinitely more important than anything about me,” he explained.

“And then we had these two knuckleheads. It is very fulfilling and something I wasn’t at all…didn’t see coming,” he said of his children.

“We never talked about marriage when we were dating. I asked her out of the blue, took her a long time to say yes. I was on my knee for like 20 minutes, I finally said, ‘Look, I’m gonna throw my hip out.’ We never talked about having kids, and then one day we just said, ‘What do you think?’ We go to the doctor and you do the ultrasound. They’re like, ‘You got a baby boy!’ and I was like, ‘Baby boy, fantastic!’ And they go, ‘And you got another one there.’ I was up for one. Again, I’m old. All of a sudden, it’s two. It’s hard to get me to not talk and I just stood there for like 10 minutes just staring at this piece of paper going, ‘What? Two?’”

Now, he said he’s “so glad” his twins have each other.

“It’s unbelievable,” he went on to say.

He also talked about pandemic life at home.

“It’s been a while since I did 15 loads of laundry in a day and mopped floors and all these doors over here I stained. I always say I felt like my mother in 1964, because she had two kids and no help. I don’t know she did it now, I have more sympathy for her now than ever.”

If you missed it, Amal recently joked with an A-lister that they both married George Clooney.

Amal Clooney Jokes That She & Meryl Streep Were Both Married to George Clooney

Amal Clooney is poking fun at her husband George Clooney‘s on and off-screen romances.

The 42-year-old barrister was awarded the 2020 Gwen Ifill Press Freedom Award during the CPJ International Press Freedom Awards on Thursday (November 19), presented by Meryl Streep.

After being virtually introduced, Amal thanked Meryl for her kind words before pointing out their relationship with Amal‘s husband.

“You are an inspiration as a woman, as an artist, as a press-freedom advocate. I know I can’t ever hope to win the number of awards that you’ve won, but it does occur to me that we have something special in common, which is that we’ve both been married to my husband,” she joked.

“And honestly, the fact that you did it as Mr. and Mrs. Fantastic Fox just makes that so much less awkward,” she went on to say.

If you didn’t know, Meryl and George were characters in the 2009 Wes Anderson animated film, Fantastic Mr. Fox.

George recently revealed the epic prank Brad Pitt played on him that impacted his reputation.
