Despite Kanye West‘s sentiments, Beck still has nothing but nice things to say about the artist after he jokingly stormed the stage at the 2015 Grammys when he won Album Of the Year over Beyonce.

“I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody,” the 44-year-old Grammy winner said (via Us Weekly) of Kanye‘s on stage storm. “How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?”

When asked what he thought about Kanye saying Beyonce should have won, Beck replied, “Absolutely. I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyonce!”

“You can’t please everybody, man. I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does,” Beck added.

If you missed it, Kanye said after the show that “Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyonce.”

There were some great acceptance speeches at the 2015 Grammy Awards on Sunday night (February 8) and now you can watch all of them right here!

Only five artists were called to the stage throughout the show to accept some of the nine awards that were handed out during the televised portion of the ceremony.

Sam Smith was the big winner, taking home Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Stay With Me,” and Best Pop Vocal Album for In the Lonely Hour.

Beck won two awards – Album of the Year and Best Rock Album for Morning Phase.

Beyonce, Miranda Lambert, and Pharrell Williams all were called to the stage to accept one award each, though Bey and Pharrell both won several other prizes in the pre-show.

On the same night, Beck took home two Grammys for Best Rock Album and Album of the Year, beating out Beyonce, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, and Pharrell Williams.

Kanye West stormed the stage at the 2015 Grammy Awards in what seemed like a joke when Beck won the award for Album of the Year, but maybe he wasn’t joking after all?

The 37-year-old rapper stopped by the E! After Show to chat with his sister-in-law, host Khloe Kardashian, and commented on his actions during the show.

“If they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t going to play with them no more… ‘Flawless,’ Beyonce‘s video, and Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyonce,” he said. “And, at this point, we tired of it. Because what happens is that when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face.”

Beyonce was nominated for the award for her self-titled album, but lost to Beck. She still picked up three other prizes during the show!

Since Beck won the Album of the Year award at the 2015 Grammys, the phrase “Who Is Beck” began trending across Twitter.

Beck, aka Beck Hansen or Beck David Campbell, a 44-year-old musician, had some stiff competition for the prize. He was up against Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, and Sam Smith.

- Beck has also won 6 MTV Video Music Awards throughout his lengthy career.

Beck was the winner of the Album of the Year award at the 2015 Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center on Sunday (February 8) in Los Angeles.

After the 44-year-old singer grabbed his trophy from Prince, he almost got it stolen away from him… by Kanye West no less!

Beck beat out Beyonce‘s highly acclaimed self-titled album and Kanye jokingly did a repeat of his MTV Video Music Awards moment when he stormed the stage upon Taylor Swift winning an award over Bey.

Pharrell Williams is joined by his wife Helen Lasichanh while walking the red carpet at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala and Salute To Industry Icons at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday evening (February 7) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Also stepping out for the star-studded party were Ricky Martin, Miguel, Common, Mark Ronson (with wife Josephine de La Baume), Beck, and Aloe Blacc (with wife Maya Jupiter).

Pharrell is tied for the most nominations at the Grammys this year – six, which includes three noms just in the Album of the Year category. He is nominated for his own album G I R L, as well as Beyonce‘s Beyonce and Sam Smith‘s In the Lonely Hour for producing songs on them.
