Pete Buttigieg and his husband Chasten are celebrating Memorial Day Weekend together!

Chasten, 31, took to his Instagram Stories over the weekend to share a photo that he snapped of Pete, 39, going shirtless while lounging by a lake.

“Nothing beats summer UpNorth!” Chasten captioned the photo.

For those who don’t know, Pete was a Democratic presidential candidate during the 2020 election and he is now serving in Biden‘s cabinet as the Secretary of Transportation. He previously was the Mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

Pete Buttigieg‘s race for President is over.

The 38-year-old former Mayor officially made the announcement on Sunday night (March 1) in his hometown of South Bend, Indiana.

“At this point in the race, the best way to keep faith with those goals and ideals is to step aside and help bring our party and our country together,” Pete said with husband Chasten Buttigieg by his side. “So tonight I am making the difficult decision to suspend my campaign for the presidency.”

“We sent a message to every kid out there wondering if whatever marks them out as different means they are somehow destined to be less than, to see that someone who once felt that exact same way can become a leading American presidential candidate with his husband at his side,” Pete said.

After making the announcement, the remaining Democratic candidates still in the running tweeted Pete, commending him on his resilient, and historic campaign.

South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg – who has been rising in the polls – stopped by the Ellen Show to talk his potential run for president, and Ellen really tried to get him to make his official announcement on her show.

“But you haven’t even announced yet, I mean would you like to announce here? You should announce here,” Ellen teased.

Pete then responded, “So, I can think of no better place than here except one, which is my hometown. We got a big event planned on Sunday and can’t wait to have as many friends and supporters as we can come and we’re looking to make some news.”
