'Game of Thrones' Showrunners Pull Out of Comic-Con 2019 Appearance

The showrunners for Game of Thrones are no longer attending the GOT panel at 2019 Comic-Con in San Diego, Calif.

The panel lineup released on Wednesday (July 19) revealed that David Benioff and Dan Weiss are no longer scheduled for the event, nor are director Miguel Sapochnik, Nathalie Emmanuel and Iain Glen.

However, plenty of stars from the show are still schedule to attend, including Maisie Williams, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Isaac Hempstead Wright and John Bradley.

If you didn’t know, Game of Thrones recently broke a record for most Emmy nominations in a single season. One Emmys nomination in particular had some fans confused.

The Game of Thrones Comic-Con panel is in Hall H on Friday (July 19) at 5 p.m. PT.

Ouch.

Game of Thrones has become one of the biggest shows in history, and has topped Google’s searches with questions about characters and fan theories.

But as of Monday (July 8), GoT is still be one of people’s top searches – but this time people are slamming show creators D.B. Weiss and David Beioff as “bad writers.”

The smear campaign started on Reddit with a post titled, “Bad Writers. Upvote this post so it’s the first result when you google ‘Bad writers,” along with photos of the creators.

Now if you search “bad writers” in Google’s search box, the GoT writers appear.

Back in May, David and D.B. fired their manager as they work on their new Star Wars trilogy series.

'Game of Thrones' Creators Fire Manager Ahead of New TV Deal

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are parting ways with their longtime manager, Guymon Casady at Management 360.

The Game of Thrones creators confirmed the news on Wednesday (May 29).

Guymon has been a good friend and partner to us for many years, and we look forward to the next chapter in our relationship. His eye for great material is keener than it’s ever been, and we expect to be producing many shows and films with him in the future,” they said in a statement.

The two had worked with Guymon for 20 years, and he was a producer on Game of Thrones and connected them with the George R.R. Martin book series.

They are now shopping for a new television overall deal, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They’re also writing a new Star Wars trilogy, with the first film due in 2022.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are working on the upcoming Star Wars movie due out in 2022, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed during the MoffettNathanson Media and Communications Summit on Tuesday (May 14) in New York City.

This news follows the revelation that there will be a trio of untitled Star Wars movies following Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

“We’re hard at work already, but we felt three years was the proper amount of time to not only take a breather and reset, but to gear up for the next film’s release. We did a deal with David Benioff and Dan Weiss, who are famous for Game of Thrones and the next movie that we release will be theirs, and we’re not saying anything more about that,” he said.

Following the 2022 movie, the next Star Wars movies will come out in 2024 and 2026.

HBO’s Game of Thrones showrunners – David Benioff and D.B. Weiss – pleaded the Fifth when asked about upcoming final season developments on last night’s (May 2) Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Host Jimmy asked the guys whether the White Walkers would return, whether Bran knew about what happened to the Night King and whether someone will take the Iron Throne by the end of the season.

David and D.B. quickly dodged the questions with answers like, “not gonna answer that,” a “possibly” and another “possibly” from Weiss and Benioff.

Jason Momoa later makes a surprise appearance when Jimmy asks David and D.B. if they can call someone and tell them they are going to die in an episode.

“Hey, Jay. It’s Dan and Dave,” D.B. says. “Sorry to tell you this, but it’s over. You’re dead on the show.” Jason, who played Khal Drogo, responds, “Yeah. I know. I’m Aquaman now.”

Steve Carell Hits Stage as Gru at VES Awards 2019!

Steve Carell hits the stage with a Gru mask in hand while attending the 2019 VES Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Tuesday (February 5) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 56-year-old actor channeled his Despicable Me character to help honor Illumination studio founder and CEO Chris Meledandri with the VES Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony, which recognizes outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation in film, animation, television, commercials, and video games.
