January Jones has shared a rare photo of her eight-year-old son Xander to show how he participated in a Black Lives Matter protest.

The 42-year-old Mad Men actress took to Instagram to talk about how she will “always continue to talk to my child about inequality.”

“I promise that I will always continue to talk to my child about inequality. And I promise to do all I can to learn more,” January captioned the photo. “We have had many more of these necessary hard conversations over the last few days, about why people are so angry and sad. For a child who didn’t used to see color amongst his friends it’s hard for him to understand, to understand why the past he learns about in school is still very present in our world today.”

“I wanted to give him an opportunity today to do a small neighborhood protest to support his friends and feel like he’s part of the progress that will hopefully happen. Please vote in Nov. If you don’t vote for who is governing your city, state and country nothing will change. ❤️,” she added.

“Morning lap swim! Happy Birthday Mom! 💙,” she captioned the photo.

January‘s friend, actor Will Kemp, jokingly commented on the bikini pic and wrote, “I’m relieved to see you using flotation devices…” She responded and said, “oh that’s good.”

The 42-year-old Spinning Out actress was joined by the designer himself Jonathan Simkhai as they joined the hospital in support of the campaign, which has attracted the commitment of businesses in Los Angeles and the Coachella Valley.

The month-long community fundraising drive is helping local businesses rally community participation to raise $1 million in the month of March to support children’s health in Los Angeles and surrounding communities – Find out more here.

Here is what the 42-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On feeling comfortable in her skin: “Public opinion doesn’t matter to me. Yesterday I went to a birthday party with my son, and I wore humongous red sweatpants because I had my period. My sister said, ‘Are you actually wearing those out?’ I thought about it for a moment, but I still wore them. Who cares? They’re my period pants!”

On how her workout mindset has changed: “When I was filming X-Men they had trainers for all of us, I would lie and say I was exercising in my hotel room, when actually I was watching Friends and having full tea service… After I had my son, Xander, I wanted to feel strong because my body had changed so much. As he got bigger and I was hauling around a 20- or 30-pound toddler, my lower back gave out and I saw my shoulders starting to curl and hunch. I wanted to do something for my posture and core strength.”

On how cleaning keeps her sane: “I love doing laundry. At work, when they say action, I can become someone else and be crazy and messy and erratic and that feels amazing and therapeutic. But at home, the domestic aspect of my life is very important to feeling balanced… My hair and makeup people always joke because I’ll be all made up and dressed in a gown, and then I’ll take out the garbage or make a lap with the Swiffer or turn on the dishwasher. And they’re like, ‘What are you doing?’ And I say, ‘Well, I need all these things done. No one else is going to do it.’”

January Jones is opening up on the rumors that she dated former The Bachelor star Nick Viall!

The 42-year-old Mad Men actress confirmed on Dax Shepard‘s Armchair Expert podcast that she indeed went on some dates with Nick after he “slid into my DMs.”

At the time, January, who is a big fan of the show, was blasting Nick while appearing on talk shows. “Nick slid into my DMs, and he’s like, ‘I’m so sorry that your perception of me is so negative, I’d love to take you out to coffee and see if I could change your mind,’” she said. “And I squealed.”

“I was like, ‘I hate that guy!’ but my sister was like, ‘If you don’t go you will forever regret it,’” January said. “So I agreed to go on a date with him — or to drinks, or whatever. As I met him I was rounding the corner and I saw him, and he has a very distinct walk, and I had this instinct to run up to him and wrap my legs around his waist, you know like they do? [But] I stopped myself.”

January says the date was “good,” but all she did “was grill him about the show.” She then added that they went on “a couple of dates,” but then cut herself off from saying more.

“The thing that attracted me to Nick was that he seemed — I mean, he was cast as the quote-unquote villain, but he had a bit of a brain, so there was something else there,” January said. “That’s all we were talking about, really. But I got a lot of juicy inside stuff.”

While January told Dax that Nick asked her to be on his podcast and she declined, she ended up agreeing as the episode was released last week!
