During his call, Jared Leto spoke about never watching his own work, and admitted he has yet to see his performance in Dallas Buyers Club, which won him an Oscar.

“I have seen my work quite a bit when I am in like a music video, which I usually direct music videos. And it’s funny because I just, it doesn’t, I guess, because I’m playing myself in the videos as well, maybe it’s different, but it I’ve always found it to be less stressful. And just a more enjoyable experience if I don’t look at the monitor, if I’m not kind of criticizing myself along the way, even if it’s in a constructive way or directing myself. I feel like I’ve done my best work when I’m just not thinking about the character from that point of view, from the outside in. I’ve done it on a couple of movies where I’ve looked at the monitor, I thought, well, maybe I can learn a lot here,” he said.

“In Dallas Buyers Club, I never, I never saw myself once in it, certainly didn’t get in the way of the, I still haven’t seen that performance and it didn’t get into the way of how it affects the audience. And I think that’s the most important thing. Like I want to be free and not be kind of hung up on how I look or how what’s effective and what’s not, and I always want to change as an actor, so I don’t want to learn what might work, what are the habits that work and what don’t. Also, who wants to look at themselves that much. I read the script, I know exactly what happened,” he explained.

If he had to watch one of his films, he said he would “probably pick either Fight Club or Requiem for a Dream because Requiem was one of the few films I already watched.”

Jared recently revealed he almost signed this Grammy winner to a recording contract.

Jared Leto Reveals He Almost Signed This Five-Time Grammy Winner to a Record Contract

Jared Leto was very close to signing Billie Eilish!

During an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Tuesday (January 26), the 49-year-old actor and singer revealed that he almost signed the 19-year-old entertainer and her brother Finneas to a recording contract.

“I met them through [film producer] Emma Ludbrook and [agent] Tom Windish, I believe. They weren’t signed, and I thought that maybe I would try and sign them, they were so incredibly talented and just special people,” Jared recalled. “The music is one thing, but I think they’re just incredibly intelligent, really empathetic, just really good people, and I quite like them a lot.”

At first, Jared said he wasn’t totally sold on Billie and Finneas until they played at one of his private dinner parties.

“I said, ‘Hey, will you guys come and play a couple of songs?’ and they were, like, ‘Yeah, sure,’” Jared shared. “And they showed up with a Guitar Center p.a. and played the most heartbreakingly beautiful music with, like, you know, it shouldn’t have sounded that good, it was impossible that it sounded that good.”

Jared continued, ““I remember Leo DiCaprio was there and a couple of other people and they were just, like, ‘How did you find these people and, like, who are they?’ Everyone was just jaws on the floor, 12 people max at my place in the hills. Yeah, just great people. I’m huge fans, too.”

Despite not signing them, Billie and Finneas have found massive success in the music industry, including both of them winning five awards at the Grammys last year.

Also during the interview, Jared admitted that he can’t find his Oscar trophy!

Jared Leto Had No Idea There Was a Pandemic Until Weeks Later in March 2020

Jared Leto did not know the Coronavirus pandemic had reached monumental proportions in March of 2020 because he was taking part in a two-week “silent meditation” getaway when the United States was first locked down in quarantine.

“When I went away, there were about 150 cases,” the Oscar winner began, “and just in that short amount of time, when I came out, there was a shutdown, a state of emergency and the whole world had changed.”

He did not have his phone, a TV, or any way to talk to anyone from the outside world.

“[The instructors] made a decision, ‘Let’s not disturb the participants,’” he added. “And I didn’t turn on my phone until I went back to L.A. So, I drove the whole way trying to be, like, peaceful and zen, keep the feeling going. I got back, and I was, you know, kind of shocked. It was like Rip Van Winkle.”

There is some other Jared Leto news that has to do with the Coronavirus pandemic as well.
