During his appearance, he explained that he went to book travel for him and his wife, when he realized he couldn’t remember her birthday.

“I couldn’t figure it out. So I texted my wife and I said, ‘Can you call me?’ And she called me and said, ‘What’s going on?’” he said. He also said he couldn’t remember where she and the kids were at the time.

He said he had “zero recollection of anything” at that time.

“I had no idea who I was, where I was. I even wrote a note…on my laptop I wrote a note that said, ‘For our records, I have no idea why I’m wearing these clothes. I have no idea where our kids are. I have no idea what day it is. I have no idea why I’m writing this.’”

He found out after visiting a neurosurgeon that he had transient global amnesia, a sudden episode of temporary memory loss. It was luckily a one-off, and his memory came back after an MRI.

Jeff Probst Reveals the Big New Twist for 'Survivor' Season 40!

Survivor: Winners at War is about to include a big new twist!

Host Jeff Probst revealed one big new surprise on Wednesday (January 15) that will surely affect how the game is played on the upcoming Season 40, debuting on February 12 on CBS.

“One of the things we wanted to accomplish with 40 was to try to find some ground that might give us room to play going forward. So we went back to the basic idea: Survivor is about a society that forms, and they form their own rules. And they decide who stays and who goes home. And over time, every society ends up having a currency. So we’re looking to add another layer to the society with a Survivor currency in the form of fire tokens,” he revealed to EW.

“Think of tokens as money. And the way it works is, everyone starts with one. And when you are voted out you have to will it or bequeath it to somebody still in the game as you head to the Edge of Extinction.”

“Now players in the game have tokens. People on the Edge have nothing. But what the Edge does have are advantages — that are of no value on the Edge of Extinction but are very valuable in the game. So it becomes supply and demand,” he went on to explain.

“The next layer is, as the game progresses, and you’re on Extinction, you don’t really know who has tokens left. You don’t know what’s been happening over there. So I’m offering to sell to somebody, hoping that they either have enough money — and, if not, they can borrow it — or go into cahoots with somebody to get enough, because they have only until sundown to pay for it.”

Players can use their tokens to purchase food, items or advantages at any challenge.

“I got what you need, you got what I want. Supply and demand. It will ebb and flow. And the idea is, if it works, in future seasons, who knows? Maybe you’re not looking for idols, you’re looking for tokens. And with tokens, you buy whatever you need. That’s the big idea,” he said.

Survivor's Jeff Probst Calls Out CBS for Spoiling Show

Jeff Probst has been the host of Survivor since the series premiered all the way back in 2000, however, he’s calling the show out in 2019 for their handling of promos and spoilers.

A promo aired for the show and totally spoiled who made it to tribal council, giving away a lot of clues within the episode.

Jeff tweeted out, “To those of you frustrated by the #survivor spoilers in the promos… I have to admit I too find it mind numbing. And it pains me to have join in your complaints against @survivorcbs but I am,” Jeff tweeted. “Despite being on the air 20 years we still have not earned the right to approve our own promo spots. The purpose of a promo is to entice you to watch without giving away what it is we want you to watch. We have no say in that…”

He then added, “I encourage you to continue complaining in the hopes they will finally submit. But spoilers notwithstanding, tonight’s #SURVIVOR episode is GREAT! Super fun! Enjoy!”

Jeff Probst Reveals the Surprising Way Jimmy Fallon Is Involved in 'Survivor: Island of the Idols'!

Jeff Probst revealed someone surprising is behind one of the twists of this season of Survivor: Jimmy Fallon!

The host of the long-running CBS competition series revealed the news to THR on Wednesday (September 25) following the show’s Season 39 premiere.

In the new season, Boston Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine – two veterans of the series who return to mentor the new castaways – secretly attend the tribal council in a private viewing. And as it turns out, that was Jimmy‘s idea!

The Tonight Show host and Survivor fan came up with the idea.

Jeff probably regrets giving me his email after he was on my show a few years ago. I use it all the time. I will have ideas in the middle of the night and just shoot off a short email and say ‘Is this anything?’ Now and then he’ll respond with: ‘This email is no longer in use.’ But I know he’s reading them!” Jimmy said to THR.

“We thought it was a great idea, but we could never make sense of it. Why would you bring a player back to secretly spy on Tribal? We weren’t sure about it. When the [Island of the Idols] idea took flight, we thought this was the time. This is when we can use the secret Jimmy Fallon viewing booth — the Fallon Booth,” Jeff explained.

Jimmy also has other ideas!

“I had one long idea once where the two tribes finally become one only to find Survivor Australia is filming their season on the same island and now those two tribes have to go at it. It’s a double season! Or something…I think. Jeff hasn’t got back to me on that one.”
